She has arrived...wow. The seller's pics did not do her justice at all...my new pics show all of the classy beauty. I'm not big on gold hardware, but with this one, I think it works. One of the tuners was replaced with a Gotoh, because Hipshot sent the seller the wrong tuner nut (was missing for whatever reason), but the original tuner was still included. I just need to get the right nut from Hipshot (easy task). Anyway, there are only a few little, little blemishes here and there, all very minor. This looks to be a true custom, like my previous Cirrus (redwood top/alder body/walnut & maple neck), just with different woods. I thought the top was originally figured walnut, but it is wenge! Sweet. The body looks like mahogany (possibly plain koa?). The stringers, or thinner pieces in the neck, look like purpleheart, with the main pieces matching the body. I'm going to email Peavey, and see what I've got here, because the body and neck has the natural deep orange/brown of koa, but who knows. Oh, and the fretboard looks to be jet-black ebony, with no fret ends sticking out. Yep, this looks like it came stock with the Hipshot bridge and Millennium preamp. The bridge is a HUGE plus for me...the ABM ones are a royal pain, imo. This must be a rarer-than-rare bird, because I don't think they did true customs with the Hipshot bridge, at least for too long, anyway. The tiger eye models, yes, but those were production models, even if on the rare side.

This one's probably around the 10lb mark (feels like the Yamaha BBNE2), but won't be my main bass, as my Millennium is that. I'll set it up either tonight or Thursday, so a tone report or full-on review will arrive shortly after.

So this is a brainteaser...got the wrong specs from Peavey, because this (bass from above) definitely doesn't have a bubinga top with a walnut body, or any maple in the neck. The inquiry answer last time was wrong, too (previous Cirrus), so I'm curious as to if the orange/brown/yellow body and neck wood is mahogany or koa.

Check these out...some samples of mahogany and koa, that I found in image searches (first two are hog, last two are koa):

Difficult to tell from the photo of the back. My Koa RSB is much darker with a straight tight grain.

Thanks, man...yeah, I'm guessing hog at this point.

Hey Tim - It did!
It arrived last night, and I just opened it up this morning.
Lots of lovely sparkly bits and 2 more strings than I feel comfortable around, but it's really nice.
Going to introduce my son to it tonight - I'll let you know how he feels about it.

I'd offer to weigh them but my luggage scales just read 7lbs for my T40. Guess I wont be trusting them

Perhaps your T40 is made of a freak balsa wood...an employee got crafty....

A question for those who own 80's Foundations - does your volume drop off considerably when you run both pickups wide open?

On my 80's Foundation with Super Ferrites, the volume drops off considerably when I run both pickups wide open - yet, either pickup seems to be just fine when solo'd... I have verified that it's wired as original, with the pickups out of phase with one another - and I also have a 90's Foundation 5 with VFL pickups that's wired exactly the same, and it doesn't do this...

Did you send Peavey an email with the serial number? That should give you all the original specs.

YEs but mine has the (I think ) Schaller german P/J pups........and it drops NOTICEABLY when I dial in both sets.
