I always loved the look of those. I'm not a Rudy Sarzo fan, but those basses look awesome.
I've always been interested in those as well. Sort of a "Made in the USA" version of an Aria Pro II Super Bass with sexier styling.
There is a Randy Jackson Peavey (Unity I think) in blueburst available on the Orlando, Florida Craigslist for $300. I've been looking at it for about a week now but just can't spare the money. Somebody might want to jump on this, please. My resistance is weak and I have way too many basses already.

There is a Peavey Unity at a local pawn shop that I had a question about. I am familiar with both the Dyna -Bass and Foundation Unity series, but this bass is just labeled Peavey Unity. It has the stepped headstock like most late '90's Peaveys,is neck-through, and has P-J pickups(Not labeled Foundation S). Is this bass active or passive. It doesn't have a separate compartment, but I have seen Peavey place the battery in the control cavity on lots of basses. It only has one tone control which leads me to think it is passive, but I have seen Peavey use boost only preamps before so this also doesn't convince me. Can anyone who has played one of these shed some light on my question and give me your basic impression of the instrument? It is under $200 and is in great condition,but I want to know more about it before I pull the trigger on one more bass I don't really need.

If so my guess would be passive EQ with vol/blend/tone. Under $200? Great deal if a neck through PJ is your thing.

The unity I am looking at is similar to the Koa Unity in your picture, but it is metallic red with chrome hardware and the tuners look to be schaller open back style rather than the Grover style on the Koa bass. In general, it looks like a lower end version of the Koa.

Hey thanks. When I saw it a couple years ago I couldn't resist. I would love to find a matching fretted version in black or natural but I have never come across one.
Originally made for Norm Stockton and purchased from a fellow t'ber off of Craigslist.
I have his DVD's and that's where I started to get the GAS from...well, I had GAS for them when they came out in the 90's and once I saw it on the DVD, my GAS flared back up.
My understanding is that Norm played in on a tapping solo on one of his DVD in the 90's and then the bass sat in storage for awhile before being sold. It looked practically new when I received it.
If you haven't played a B quad yet they are certainly worth the prices they fetch on Ebay. The neck is just fantastic and I get a very clear and growly tone. Great in the lower mid's.
Only problem I now am running into is finding someone that can deal with the electronics. Apparently some of the electronic components are unusual or hard to work on. Oh well, small price to pay.
