Never thought about Bar Keeper's Friend to clean a seriously dirty fingerboard. Been using the stuff for decades to clean around the house (and to polish the nastiest of dirty cymbals).

I'm not a fan of burst finishes but, that is a gorgeous finish on your Telecaster! I dig the grain pattern on that particular specimen.

I have a megabass lead for you.

I sent it to Meridian... had it fully reworked and cleaned.

Millenium/GV String Retainer

Has anyone found an aftermarket source for these? I'm guessing they're copies of a Floyd Rose retainer

I'm not a sunburst guy, either. That one did look great, though. Not great for a Squier, just great! Played really nice, too. I love that particular neck profile and have a Squier CV '51 P neck with the same exact profile on my Partscision bass. The difference is the CV neck was fully gloss finished, so the back got a good scrubbing to matte it up. Note: this bass is black, which I love sooo much more than sunburst! It's going nowhere, for a relatively cheap bass, it performs 3-5Xs it's pay grade.

Truth be told, the Tele bass mostly sat, unplayed. Mudbuckers are niche---so hot and so dark. I contemplated adding a single coil P pickup in the proper spot to make the bass a little more useful, but chose to not rout and just do a wiring mod to it (CTS 1M linear volume, 500K push/pull tone for series/parallel and Switchcraft jack). This made it more tonally usable to me (parallel mode), but in the end, it just didn't jive, so I sold it and got a black USA made EBMM SUB 4 string for the same $$. I played that SUB more in the first month than I did that Tele the 3-4 years I had it!

You're absolutely spot on about the mudbuckers. I have a Modern Player Tele with two mudbuckers and it's a different tone for sure. Oddly enough, with the right amp mine can sound a lot like an acoustic bass. I decided to hang on to mine because there's nothing else in my toolbox that sounds like it. I'm thinking about using it for an acoustic set this weekend.

So I picked up a Trace Elliot ELF from Craigslist last night brand new in the box for $200. I LOVE it. It sounds amazing. Doesn't have the classic TE tone, but it just sounds great. Cooling fan, SIMPLE to use. I love simple. Less gimmicks, the better. Since Trace Elliot is owned by Peavey (right ?) I figure it's still within our Peavey group.
Also, my overdrive pedal dilemma has been solved, too. As much as I loved every demo of the Darkglass X7, it's just out of my budget. Again, was looking on CL and a guy FIVE MINUTES from me had a BOSS ODB-3 bass overdrive for $20 bucks !!!!!
Saturday night I replaced my stock pickups in my Peavey Foundation S with Seymour Duncans. Not a whole lot of difference, so the stock ones were really good. I should know by now that Peavey hardly cut corners. I also switched out the stock bridge for a Hipshot high mass bridge, since I had one in my parts drawer.
I had a good weekend.

There are some really nice Korean made basses.
Have you seen the prices for used Lakland Skyline basses? ...and I think they are Indonesian now.
Reverend Basses are pretty slick, they are Korean or Indonesian.

I've actually been looking at a couple of those. Only thing that holds me back is I have an aversion to 20 fret necks!

And shh. Don't tell anyone one. I have a Chinese Millennium 5 BXP AC. Way better than it has a right to given what I paid for it.
