Just picked up this beauty for cheap at a local store. I'm hoping it looks as good as the pictures when I pick it up tomorrow.

Saw that Patriot, was wondering about the finish. Is that an original color?
What I like about Gravity is that Nate or Chris do typically set up the instruments well enough that they are playing nice from the get go. I got a Les Paul from them and the set up (with 10-46 strings) was great. I just had to throw my telephone cables on it and adjust things accordingly.

That's what I'm wondering as well. I've scored some awesome gear from them before but if it's a good refine -- I'll keep it. The price was too good to pass up.

Looks like there was a custom paint job available on these. However, the color in the photo looks a touch darker.
After my first bass was stolen, my Ma and I went to the mall, with some insurance money in hand, and purchased my Peavey Patriot. I think we paid around $229 USD for it. I loved that bass. Alas, it was also stolen from my instrument locker at school. Some locker! If you like chunky P tones without the chunky P neck, I think you're gonna love it.
Well after a little research it seems there is no issue using the Bartolini preamp with the VFL's. That is looking like my path forward with this. Replace the Bartolini pickups with a pair of VFL's and later the preamp with a Cirrus or Millennium Preamp.

Just FYI - I've used Bartolini NTMB preamps with Peavey VFL's on MANY basses. They pair perfectly. Just give the Bart bass time before you make any rash decisions. It's all GOOD components. Bart stuff is killer, and top shelf.
I've had GC not send the case, and go find it when I called.
Then ship it at their expense.

I bet you will sell the Barts easily and get a decent buck for them.

Oh I will give it a try as is and I may like it just as it is. I am sure the preamp is just fine as is, assuming it is functional.
Yep. I was very annoyed. I called and they were checking into it, but it is clear that it was for sale with the case.
I don't think I'll have too much trouble selling the Barts if I pull them.

Ok here are a couple pics of the GV. Hasn't been cleaned or anything, in fact I really haven't touched it at this point.
Missing a couple knobs too but Peavey has those for like 4 bucks a piece. With split pot shafts though I'll have to use a shim on the pots from the Bart Pre.

The body looks really good and I see what you're saying about the blocks in the body. Unless you really like the existing pickups, I would put some VFL's back in it and give it a whirl pre that's in it.
If the neck is straight and everything else checks out, it might make for a good restoration platform. Really dig the color as well!
Yeah the neck is good and the Truss rod turns just fine. I think I'm going to mess around with it as is for a little while but sooner rather than Later I will get some VFL's to go in it. I can do the swap and see which way I like it.
