Impromptu appreciation post for my VFL Foundation. I feel like sometimes these get overlooked here compared to the SF versions, but honestly I like mine just as much. Last year I took mine to my local GC and had the neck buffed from the factory satin to a really nice gloss, and it came out really nice. I also replaced the wimpy stock bridge with a Schaller roller bridge, and it really improved the tone and stability imo. The pickups on these are super versatile and I can go from squeaky clean bridge tones with beautiful harmonics, to pretty decent punk picking tone on the neck pickup. Not to mention, these don’t suffer from the bilaminate neck issues that can plague some Peavey’s. I really like this bass, and while the early foundations are better stock without a doubt, I’d put mine toe to toe with any SF foundation any day, and I think one would go well in any peavey lovers stable. If only mine wasn’t that ugly Fisher Price red lol

Hah. I like the red and the black ones just fine but the white ones don't appeal to me. The only Foundation I have right now is an older SF equipped bass in beautiful blue with a rosewood fingerboard. It is a killer bass.

I can’t stand the red they used these years. And yet, both my SF and VFLs are that same red, as well as my Reactor (Tele copy). I’m a sucker for a deal lol

Yeah, me too. I am up to 12 Peavey basses...5 Cirrus, 4 USA Millennium, my Foundation, a Palaedium and one MIK Fury 5. The Fury and one of the Millennium 5's are for sale but a Cirrus 5 arrived today. Sick puppies. That is what we are.

the original bridge was installed in the complete wrong place, so the adjustable spacing helped me get correct alignment over the fingerboard (something I’m very picky about) it’s a good bridge for sure

Pardon the cell phone quality (and all the flubs) but I think it somewhat comes across how well this bass works for those bridge pickup pizzicato kinda style lines. Quality instrument for sure.

Those aren't VFLs. They are passive single coils in a shell that is the same size/shape as the VFLs. VFL is an active, dual coil pickup. That being said, this generation of Foundation do sound good.

I've officially, unofficially fallen in love agin with the most versatile Peavey bass on the market ; The Peavey Millennium made in USA. The bass with the musicman pickup in the bridge position, and the jazz pup in the neck position. Sounds SOooo much like a growly 70's Pbass in the neck position. I'm amazed. This bass is so incredible. I never gave it a fair chance in the past, or perhaps (and most likely) I just didn't understand how the Milli preamp worked. With the simple turn of the pickup selector knob I can dial in most any nasty bass tone I desire. Why didn't I see this in the past ? Oh well, I see it now.

It´s a great bass, especially the electronics. Records really well too. The one that I have, has a kind ugly finish and that´s one thing that´s bothering with Peavey in general. Always great instruments, but often they look a bit boring.

Got my “new” patriot pickguard in the mail yesterday, and installed this morning. Age appropriate wear, but no cracks so now I’m not afraid every time I remove the cable from the jack. I also didn’t wanna waste shielding on the old guard, so now it’s fully shielded, and there’s zero difference in hiss/hum from me holding the strings or not. Very pleased with this this bass. Still a bit of fret buzz when close to the nut, as the first 5 frets are pretty uneven and definitely show signs of wear. Still, love to pick up and play this one.

Thanks! The tuning is dropped a half step on this bass. Works really well on a 35" scale bass. This bass has a very growly sound. Like a jazz bass, but more punch and growl.

I love the finish on your Mill! Very unique and complements the hardware. Then again I like solid unassuming finishes on professional instruments.

My Millenniums are vying for the top spot and I'm sure my newly acquired Cirrus and GV are going to contend as well. That speaks volumes considering I have four GL's in my stable that I cherish as well.

I've played custom shop Warwick's, Alembics, and other boutiques, and the Peavey's don't just sit in the mix, they secure their spots.
