Adrian Smith also played Lado, and my buddy from high school actually found his actual black and red destroyer axe off of Ebay. It will never leave his grasp.

I wonder if I can join the club? I love my Peavey's...I'm building quite a collection. They're all great players, each with it's own personality. Current favorite is the T-20...

Some of you have already seen this, but I recently acquired a 1984 Fury with the slanted Super Ferrite pickup, and it has wildly exceeded my expectations.

I expected something very similar to the ‘90s models (sleek Precision copies with skinny but substantial necks) but found it an altogether different animal—or beast! The wide, shallow neck has the same nut width as my 5-string ATK, an all-around substantial instrument in its own right. I can tune from EADG to CGCF without any need of truss rod adjustment. What a burly bass!

Of possible interest to the club:

First, I would still like the option of adjusting the truss rod, and there’s got to be a better way than what I have been doing with my Peavey basses (it literally involves a bit driver, a socket, and a monkey wrench). If anybody wants to sell me a dedicated tool for the job or can point me toward such a thing, please send me a direct message.

Second, I will be parting ways with my white ‘90s Fury. It has seen better days, but it still plays; if you might want it for a beater or parts, again, please send me a direct message.

Those ash and hog Foundations are kinda uncommon. Knowing Peavey, and their widespread use of northern (?) ash, I'd expect that one to weigh in on the portly side.

Yes, my apologies...it was a typo.
I had to run out the door but wanted to post a quick pic.
My mother is sick and on my way to Florida....driving. I have it with me and will finish the setup when I get there tomorrow and post some more pics.

They are not portly at all with the slimmed down bodies from the T series. My ash fury is 8.7 lb and this doesn't feel much heavier. I'll weigh it tho.

Just curious - how would you compare the sound of the Patriot vs. the Fury? I also have both, but the slant Fury has been in pieces for more than a year while I try to find time for refinishing. I'm thinking of an early re-assemblage for some recording as the Patriot I used on the original session is lacking some fundamental in places.

To my ear, they have very similar levels of fundamental, and the differences lie mainly in the voicing of the midrange. The fury seems to have more aggressive high mids than the patriot, which might translate to a lack of bass in the sound depending. It’s certainly not a p bass even if it looks like it’s trying to be one lol
