U.S. Peavey Club

As you may recall, a couple of weeks ago I bought a Super Ferrite/Mahogany body Foundation off GC's website. It was listed as good condition for $199 with the case. Hey, a bargain!

The bass arrived and had very bad ski jump in the neck. Someone had cranked on the micro tilt to lower the action when the neck itself had forward bow and needed a truss rod adjustment. The neck was toast and the condition of the body such that calling it "fair" would be generous. It was certainly not "good".

I returned it to my local GC and they refunded all my money including shipping charges. Nice. Then they immediately put it back up for sale listed as "good" condition. Someone bought it right away.

Earlier today that same bass again showed up on GC's website, no doubt returned the second time, and again was $199 and listed as good condition. Guess what? It sold right away. Someone is in for a disappointment.

Now I have scored some nice basses for great prices of GC's website but this is the third time they are selling the same bass that is unplayable. When I returned it I showed the guy why I was returning it and he agreed that the neck was bad. I am a good guitar tech so I know that nothing short of some serious work on that neck could have corrected the problems it has.

The good news is that if you buy a lemon bass from them you can return it to a local GC for a full refund. Hey, I got a shipping box out of the deal.

I bought that bass, had it shipped, monkeydicked around with the setup for two hours, looked at the first six frets, which were worn down to the wood, then returned it to the Plymouth Meeting, PA store for a full refund.

Same deal.

I got a case out of the deal for my trouble.

Just picked up a near-mint Palaedium this afternoon. Only a couple little nicks here and there and still has the plastic on the cavity cover! It’ll get the blacked-out treatment this week.

Now that I got this one, if someone is looking for a Palaedium, there is one listed here. The seller is willing to ship too. Invalid Link Removed

that was on Reverb. Looks nice!

That's CRAZY !!!! No Paladedium's anywhere, esp in the natural color which is how I picture them always. Now, Berklee and The Dude both find minty's in one week ? What the heck ! Awesome !!! Congrats to both of you !

Also, I've learned now to tell my tech to STOP PULLING THE PLASTIC OFF MY COVERS !!! I KNOW he knows not to do it, but I think it's like popping bubble wrap or some kind of tick ; he HAS to do it and it makes me so mad !

Also, (sorry I have 3 different topics going on, must be the coffee) but when you guys go to GC Used and see the count of how many Peaveys there are, if you're like me, I KNOW you guess what the new one is if there's one more than yesterday, or if there's one less do you guess which one sold ? I pretty much know the inventory by heart.

The Paladedium on reverb had been up for a while. How often do you check reverb, ebay, gc, ect?

Not as often as GC Used. It's more out of habit. I've started to notice that Ebay is becoming less popular and Reverb is THE destination site now for quality instruments. Ebay is more for offshore basses / guitars, etc, and Reverb is more higher end. I think the reason is GC is just more of a habit to me. I had no idea it's been on Reverb for a while, then again, I wasn't in the market for a passive Peavey.

I've been buying most of my parts from Ebay. I just grabbed a brand new black brass Hipshot A-Style bridge for my Wenge 4 for $59 shipped. Ebay had a $25 off coupon, really cant beat that.

I sell a lot of non-music stuff there, which goes to pay for the parts I buy.

I totally agree, Eric. Ebay is THE best place for parts. I've bought and endless list of parts over the years for all types of basses. All my Cirrus black hardware is from Ebay. It's all made in China, but WHO CARES ! It's EXACTLY the same as ABM bridge and only $25 bucks. I also buy a ton of Wilkinson parts. I LOVE them !!! Super good quality at bargain basement prices.
