No affiliation, just gotta wonder why this listing has been up for so long with no takers...cool color!

Maybe a little bit more in the description would help his case.

I have wondered, too. It's gotta be the description, or lack thereof. Maybe when asked specific questions they don't answer? $350 for a 62 Blue Foundation is a steal.

That’s a pretty blue, but it is more beat up than my salmon Foundation that I got for less $$ locally w/ the Lightning P knobs and a better case. So, IMO it’s priced too high, especially given the lack of details in the description, which usually means there’s stuff being hidden or left out.

Condition, price (350 for a chipped up body is a bit high) and my guess is that the location and pickup only thing also has a lot to do with it.

I'm in the L.A. area and $350 foundations don't move super fast, even the 2 87 mahogany ones I was watching. I would have paid $250 for one, if I could have afforded to spend $250. So I didn't make the offer on either of them.

The guy wanting $180 for the beat up fretless converted one was another story. That ended up costing me $90.

And I still have a tiny bit of remorse because of the fretless thing, and the overall conditon, and my suspicion of a truss rod issue, and more so that I now notice ski jump (if that is what the raising of the last fret is called) and the beginning of the seam coming apart.

The reason I took it was I immediately had "swap necks" in mind, initially for the 91 fury to keep the pinstripe/titan theme, but ditched that idea because I don't want to mess with my best condition peavey, or have the wrong name on the headstock. The beater foundation late 90s/2000 era one I paid $40 for as my first usa peavey this time around (I had a 94ish fury in the late 90s that I sold because I perceived it as a cheap bass, and so cal had a gnarly peavey stigma), became the guniea pig instead.

Turned out to be a match made in heaven, and the fretless neck on the other body turned out less of a throwaway instrument than I thought.

But if anyone has a pinstripe era foundy neck for a good price, can be stripped of the titans if it has them, but if it has LW tuners like my 87 did I would probably want them as to not have exposed holes on the back.

At that point I might retire the neck until a fretless was actually needed, and put the proper one back on later model bass.

But I gather that peavey parts go for higher prices than the percentage of what they would be of the price of the bass itself.

The Patriot has landed! Just unboxed it and checked it out....gotta say, Im really excited! Plays very nice, strings feel and sound fairly new but they have a lil rust/muck on 'em. Knobs, jack, and pickup all function very well with no noise or scratchy sounds. I forgot how great these necks were...feels just like my old Foundations, slim and fast. As you can see, it arrived in the period correct Peavey "rifle" case...LOL...its missing ALL the foam inside though. The headstock is in fantastic shape, no dings and the tiniest lil' chip at the tip that I didnt even notice til I looked at the pics. Front of the bass is fantastic too, no dings or chips, pickguard is even nicer than I expected. Around back you can see the scratches and scars, especially the bottom edge...has a bit of wear, still much better than I expected. The best part...it weighs next to nothing...maybe 8 pounds, probably less. The tone is very similar to a Foundation, really nice, a little nasal/midrange/P-bass like...but not "honky"...I really dig it. As I stated earlier, if it hadn't been in such great condition, and hadn't had the matching headstock and black hardware, I doubt I would've given it a second look. It is a beauty though! Definitely the best $199 I have ever spent!

I'm not normally a fan of red basses but the matching headstock really adds something and the black pickguard/black hardware make a good contrast.
Your black hardware looks in great shape.
Way to go!

That red is kess offensive than my lipstick red foundation. I hope to get some help stripping that body down someday.

You in a gigging band? (back when there were actually gigs...) I am not. When covid is over I am going to try to get a weekly jam thing going either at home or at rental studio space.

Yeah, I occasionally poach gear from there. In a few bands but, none of them are gigging and most places right now aren't doing too many gigs with the winter season fast approaching. Working with a buddy right now to help him put out his 5th album (my first). Rental spaces are popular right now.

Be Prepared to be a Peavey addict - ALL the USA basses are insanely good quality. All the snickers and laughs you've heard from people over the years are ignorant Fender people with headstockitis.

I'm a little annoyed. If you guys remember I had that gig two weeks ago that was so hot we were all sweating like crazy and my Millennium quit working. If you also remember that woman fell into my mic stand and started a chain reaction with everything flying at me. Well my millennium was on the stand during all that and after it was said and done I noticed the stand had moved around. Well after a couple days drying out its back to working normally. I remembered that I hadn't given it a good cleaning so I took it out of the case to clean it up and I now see that what I thought was some dirt is actually a small but deep scratch from that incident. That really aggravates me to no end. Gonna have to look at ways to touch it up or what I can do about it. Its that dark peacock blue color. Grrrr!

I think I'm answering my own question here, but seeing how crazy I am.

Got a Gen3 (early 90s) Fury. As advertised, plays like a Jazz, sounds like a P. Pretty much new condition. The issue is, the fretwork is pretty awful. I don't know that I've ever judged/put down a bass due to fretwork, but this one is making me see why people will have that complaint. Super sharp, and feel really high in the higher registers - to the point of squashing notes around the 14th-15th fret on the G.

So - would you drop $120-130 for a fret job on a bass that usually sells around $200-300? Seeming kinda worth it to me, in that it's pretty much perfect apart from that. Just have to get over the mental hurdle of 'investing' in 'cheap' gear.

Obv, the 90s US Peaveys punched WAY above their weight class.

Why dump $120-130 for a job you can do yourself on a weekend??
Fret cleanup kit is at worst $10 on Amazon...
It's literally the easiest thing in the world to do...
just time consuming...but heck, pop positive on a COVID test and you can
do a Masterwerke Job of it during the first week, then play the second

Just to let you all know, a fellow Peavey Club member has BURNED me for $350 bucks on a neck and body I bought over a month ago. We did the deal off Talkbass, my mistake for trusting a fellow brother.
IF it isn't taken care of soon like promised OVER AND OVER again, I will reveal his name and I suggest nobody deal with him. THIS SUCKS !!!

Did this situation ever get resolved?
I've bought and sold Peavey basses and Peavey parts to and from people here in this thread and never a hint of a problem.
I am bummed out to find out somebody here is not being honorable, that screws up what I thought was a great thing with this group sharing knowledge and helping each other with basses and parts when we can.
