Knobs, jack, and pickup all function very well with no noise or scratchy sounds. I forgot how great these necks were...feels just like my old Foundations, slim and fast. As you can see, it arrived in the period correct Peavey "rifle" case...LOL...its missing ALL the foam inside though. The headstock is in fantastic shape, no dings and the tiniest lil' chip at the tip that I didnt even notice til I looked at the pics. Front of the bass is fantastic too, no dings or chips, pickguard is even nicer than I expected. Around back you can see the scratches and scars, especially the bottom edge...has a bit of wear, still much better than I expected. The best part...it weighs next to nothing...maybe 8 pounds, probably less. The tone is very similar to a Foundation, really nice, a little nasal/midrange/P-bass like...but not "honky"...I really dig it. As I stated earlier, if it hadn't been in such great condition, and hadn't had the matching headstock and black hardware, I doubt I would've given it a second look. It is a beauty though! Definitely the best $199 I have ever spent!

Quick question for the group...has anyone ever done a refinish job on a Peavey with a natural finish?

If you've never refinished anything, before you do ANYTHING to the bass,
go find a barstool or some odd pieces of wood and do those first.

First you have to get the old finish off...I like Citri-Strip. Lowes/Home Depot/wally world.
Takes longer than the chemicals but it won't hurt anything or you.

There's more than a few woodworking websites that have great finishing vids...
watch a few...the more, the better.

Pick out a Quality Clearcoat...and there are a lot of options.

Test on the BACK of the body first...that way if you don't like how it looks,
you can take it off easy and do another.

I've bought and sold Peavey basses and Peavey parts to and from people here in this thread and never a hint of a problem.
I am bummed out to find out somebody here is not being honorable, that screws up what I thought was a great thing with this group sharing knowledge and helping each other with basses and parts when we can.

Well technically, not yet, but let's hope so ! I'd like to think Peavey people take the high road, and not the road high, but we'll see. Just because Derrick took forever to ship is not a justification to do the same. I'll let y'all know when it gets resolved. I know some of you said you wouldn't be as nice as I am in PM's and would've disclosed the name, but I'm holding off for now and hopefully I won't have to. Thanks for the concern.

I could’ve had my RJ-IV for free. I bought it via Facebook marketplace and the guy shipped it as soon as I paid. Then his bank had an issue and declined the payment and refunded my money, days after I received it. If I remember correctly, I mailed him cash or a check and sent extra $$ to help cover some fees.

Doing the right thing is it’s own reward and makes the world a better place one small step at a time.

No doubt !!!! I would've done the exact same thing. There's NOTHING WORSE that bad musician karma. Don't EVER burn a fellow musician. Like you said, you are making the world a better place one small step at a time, and conversely the opposite. You can make the world crappy one step at a time.
But burning a musician or stealing gear is ALWAYS going to come back to bite you in one way or another. The Universe doesn't forget and it can come in the form of not getting into the band you want, gear breaking down, etc. Always do the right thing when it comes to music gear.
Integrity is doing the right thing when no one is looking.

Exactly! Well said! I’d add to do the right thing in all interactions, not just music. Of course, I’m guilty of being an a-hole and have done plenty of bad things... that’s how I learned my lessons. I was dealt my lumps for what I have done wrong, and it changed me. I’m very grateful for that.

Since I’m such a nice guy... somebody wanna donate a beautiful Cirrus bass to me? I’ll settle for that sexy red Patriot?

Mech saw an RJ IV on Craigslist in Austin, and he called me and told me about it.
I drove in to look at it for him and brought it home, packed it and sent it to him, and the next day he sent me Paypal money.
Later, when I got a T20 body, he sent me a pickup to put in it and would not let me pay him.
That's the way we're supposed to help each other around here.
