Ugh. Which chorus pedal?

I own both, the full sized and the mini. The main difference is that the full sized version has access to 3 presets with a toggle: chorus - toneprint - trichorus. On the mini you have only on stored sound, and you can change it only with the toneprint editor. In my opinion, the mini is a better deal, as I allways use the toneprints rather than the preset chorus/trichorus on the standard.

I've used a couple of choruses over the years. My favorites are the Danelectro Cool Cat Stereo 18v Chorus (you can find it cheap), the ProTone Pedals Nectar Chorus, and the Aguilar Chorusaurus.

I like the first two because they are both pretty similar in terms of controls and sound. They're very transparent and have a nice glossy sheen on them. The last one I haven't fully mastered the controls yet, but you can get some heavy, watery tones with it as well as very subtle. Of the three, the Chorusaurus has the most range in tones.

Ones I've tried that are nice, but just didn't do it for me for one reason or another were the TC Electronics Corona Chorus, Earthquaker Sea Machine and Visual Sound H20 Chorus/Echo.

I use a Palmer Effects Herrenchor; a chorus made for bass. Solid built (German) cheap (at least here in europe) gives a very useable chorus, no loss of low end. Serves me like your wanted chorus; for those songs that just need it :-)

Working on building a (ampless) pedalboard for live use.

So far I'm running bass into Spectracomp-->MXR M-80. I've tried a few different (mostly cheap or guitar-oriented) chorus pedals and immediately ditched them due to low end loss.

What's everyone's preferred chorus? Bonus points for cheaper pedals that sound great. I only need chorus for a couple songs (Sweet Child O' Mine), so I'm not looking to spend a ton.

Also looking at the Line 6 M5, since I only need the chorus for a few things, maybe a multi would better serve my purposes.

Advice?
I'm a big fan of the M5. If you're feeling extra adventurous you can also add a midi mouse. That's ALOT of sounds at your toe-tips and nothing at all to carry.
