ha, I don't know what I was thinking when I made my parents buy me my Kramer XL24 back in '81. Even when I added the Kahler in the later 80's it still was quite ugly. Needless to say I still have it...

I don't know, man; I think it looks kinda cool.

You can't argue about personal preference - people think something's ugly - then no amount of argument or persuasion can make them change their mind - in their eyes - it is ugly!

Point in case - I think all American cars are ugly - but obviously a lot of people must like them...I can't help seeing them like that, though! :hmm:

Hope I won't insult anyone with this, but I also dislike Alembics with this body shape

I'm in love with that shape! It begs to be worn high!

But then, I play a Kubicki and I love everything about it, although I'm sure there are plenty here who'd say they hate them!

You can laugh at my ugly FrankenGrabber all you want. It sounds
completely incredible. You would never know from looking at it,
but it rings like a grand piano, snarls like a J, and has low end
for days.

I did the paint job when I was 17 and tripping. The "pickguard" was made
by a friend back in the day out of oak plywood. The original bridge was
all rusted out and couldn't adjust anymore, so I stuck on this Hipshot.
Back in biz!

No man, that thing kicks ass! It looks killer! Probably even heavier than my Kramer XL7 (same neck, smaller body) but I love the looks of them.

Any Wishbass and I hate to say it because I think it's a quality instrument and sounds great but...Bongos:hiding: Just too weird looking for me. They look like something those big headed guys on Star Wars should have been playing. I guess I would also ad Steibergers to the list as well. They look like a row boat oar.

So with all of these votes for Steinbergers, does that make the Chapman Stick the ugliest bass of all time?

With all of the terrific work done by incredible players on the Stick over the years, kind of makes you reconsider the looks vrs function and sound thing again.
As ugly as the buzzard bass is, and I don't deny it, I still want one and think they are pretty cool.

Modulus made a very few Buzzard basses. I really wish I could get my hands on one of those.
