Ultra flat cabs

Thoughts?

My boss, Bruce Thigpen, the inventor is on the phone with me to help you understand what we have accomplished.
The frequency response is modeled after 8 x 10 bass cabs. Weight is 30 lbs. Depth is 5 inches. Moves the same amount of air as an 8 x 10 with much less enclosure volume. We figured out the physics.

If it's modeled after an 810E it's not flat; so I assume you mean "ultra-thin" cab. I would think the 5" depth for a cab of this form factor would be extremely tippy. 30lbs is certainly worthy of attention.

It's nice if they can do it. Planar speakers tend to suffer in bass. Some speaker companies punt completely and pair conventional drivers for the bass with flat panels for the higher frequencies.

This is the type of innovation that the bass world needs for this decade. Just wonder if it uses a valve amp simulation to sound more like an SVT? The amp itself should be too light to include actual valves and related transformers.

I am trying to see the great advantage here.

Can you place it more or less directly at a wall, so it takes up next to no space in the room? This would be nice for crammed rehearsal spaces.

But where do you put your amp?

Electrostatic hi-fi speakers are fairly flat.

Why not? The weight saving is a good point, but I agree that the principle still needs further optimisation.

I'm pretty sure "Is there an 8x10 that is easy to move?" has been asked plenty of times over the decades.
