That's a cool looking bass.
I'm trying to imagine what kind of playing style would cause the wear marks under the strings. Thumb playing on the E and A perhaps? That's the last place any of mine would show wear.
Quite expensive for what it is. The one I see in stores are generally in the $9 to $18K price range.
omg the places they have this bass posed to take the pictures... leaning against a post... I was cringing...
The big selling point is the color. Very few 57's were made in blonde. There are a few 58's out there....they're more common, but still rare.
That said, he really isn't asking for $25,000 ...he's setting a high line and has the "make offer" button there for interested parties. He probably is expecting 17-20k, but by putting the 25k price tag in there, not only does he set his starting point for negotiations, he also makes sure that his bass comes up at the top of the page in Ebay "high to low" inquiries.

My guess is, he'll get the crap lowball'ed out of him Ebay-style, with people ranting and raving that his price is too high. Or, he'll get nothing at all.
I try to put "high lines" on stuff I sell on Ebay and get tumbleweeds, regardless of what it is.
I think at LEAST someone could clean the smegma off the frets. That's just nasty.
I saw a guy try twice to unload his Ernie Ball acoustic for with a $1400 pricetag with no takers, he openly got frustrated in his E-Bay comments and listed it one last time with no reserve. I believe he got close to $3K when the dust settled.

Checkout the picture with the owner playing, it does indeed look like he is using his thumb.
