I never had the pleasure to see him live but watched many concerts on TV. He was one of the greats! His album with Eric Clapton is good too!

Lewie Polk Steinberg (September 13, 1933 – July 21, 2016)[1] was an American musician best known as the original bassist for Booker T. & the MGs.
He was born in Memphis, TN.
Steinberg was in the group from 1962 to 1965. He was featured on "Green Onions" and its B-side, "Behave Yourself", and the album Green Onions. He recorded one more album with the band, Soul Dressing, in 1965 after which he was replaced by Duck Dunn.
Steinberg was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992[2] and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007.

On the TV show Mork and Mindy, Mindy has the front cover of the Jackson Browne album Running On Empty taped to her bedroom wall.
A slightly modified line from the AC/DC song "T.N.T.", "Lock up your daughters", was used as the title of AC/DC's first headlining tour of Great Britain in 1976 after the band's move from Melbourne, Australia, to London, earlier that year.
Ray Manzarek of The Doors and Nigel Harrison of Blondie were in the band Nite City together.

Played at a few of their live shows in 2009.
I first heard the phrase "lock up your daughters" as a lyric in the 1979 Godley & Creme tune "An Englishman In New York" (no connection to the Sting tune with the same title)

On December 30, 1985, after a performance at Upton's club PJ's Alley, Rickey Nelson asked Upton to accompany him on a flight to Dallas, Tx. but Upton declined due to business obligations. The flight crashed, killing Nelson and several others.
