In May, 1968, Pink Floyd, in support of a beleaguered radical newspaper called The International Times, plays the Roundhouse in London: Paul McCartney's in the crowd, dressed as an Arab; Marianne Faithful's there too, but she's wearing a habit with her backside fully exposed; and Michelangelo Antonioni's in the crowd somewhere, scouting for ideas for his film, Blow-Up. Must've been a fun night.

In Paris, they're setting fire to the Stock Exchange.

Had to fact check that one because it seemed so crazy--it's true!

Why it seemed so crazy--they had exactly two singles chart in the US, one of them peaked at 70, and both were released 50 years ago.

We loved them in Oz. My first ‘big’ concert - Status Quo at the Hordern Pavilion around 74/75.

In 1983, Let's Dance was set to become one of Bowie's biggest selling hits. A young, relatively unknown Stevie Ray Vaughan knocked out the solo, towards the end, and bought himself a ticket to fame. The clip was filmed in Australia so David wanted to feature a strat owned by Australia's best guitarist. Strange rider So, the one he's seen (almost) playing in the clip belonged to one Phil Emanuel.

Lots to say about the song, the clip, and the man, but let's just say he lived the dream and leave it at that — one decent Hombre going out of his way to help. And Let's Dance.

Bowie described this video (and the video for his subsequent single, "China Girl") as "very simple, very direct" statements against racism and oppression, but also a very direct statement about integration of one culture with another. …

French Singer Songwriter Barbara Weldens was on tour and was performing in a church in the town of Invalid Link Removed in south-west France for the festival Léo Ferré when she collapsed on stage at about midnight on 19 July 2017 and was pronounced dead of cardiac arrest. [edit]Mairowitz's claim, that Antonioni was scouting for ideas for Blow-Up! is anachronistic. In his defence, they were handing out sugar cubes at the show that night.

[And it was] a wild ride across the globe during May 1968 with one-time revolutionary journalist David Zane Mairowitz. From London to Paris to San Francisco to New York David captures the mood and ideas of the student protests that called for a radical new democracy.

No reason necessarily to suspect that Antonioni wasn't there but, as you rightly say, Blow-Up! had already been well and truly detonated. Maybe he just enjoyed the scene and wanted to be a part of it. Maybe his lover dragged him along
