Greg...you forgot husband rule #214b. (It was subtly presented mere moments after you said, "I do.") If you have to say you don't owe a pair of shoes, you do owe a pair of shoes. Pony up...if nothing else think of it as karma insurance for the next time (it ain't if, but when) you elect to pursue forgiveness over permission. 
Is there a TalkShoe forum somewhere? Maybe I can beat their "Spouse Filter" and find out what she really wants (or already has, hidden in the back of the closet).

Greg (and other married cats) Here's whatcha do. Everytime you log onto TB you must first go to a Jewelry Site, a Shoe site, an Antique site or a Vacation site. Keep one of those sites up the whole time your on TB. Significant other walks in, you tell her "Oh I was just looking for you a _______. Mask the hours you spend acuiring GAS.

Bummer, my Thumb came back. The guy's hand hurt after playing it for a couple hours, I guess he wasn't used to the neck...
Rest assured, my hand never hurt when I played it... anyway, the bass is back up for sale!

I don't think I mentioned my weekend much yet. It was a great one. I had the chance to close Friday night on the Main Stage at Blacksburg's big annual street fair called Steppin' Out with my band The Electric Woodshed. 50,000 Watt PA System, 1000+ people packed on the street - man it was awesome!!
My Roscoe absolutely killed. I got a ton of inquiries after the show - "man, what kinda bass is that?!?".
Did I also let them know that I'm a Roscoe dealer? You bet!!! There's no better sales technique than to have a rippin' gig on a bass that you sell.
