Vegetarian Club Anyone?

Can I have a number?
I'm 14 and have been a strict vegetarian for 10 years.
Hey good for you bro!

My son, who is almost 5, has been veg/vegan pretty much since birth. We are pretty lax at partys and stuff where there is cake and let him make the choice, so has had small amounts of milk and egg, but we certainly would not feed that to him in our house. As he gets older we'll let him make his own dietary choices... I just hope he doesnt choose to eat meat.

I sold out last week.Been wearing non-leather shoes since I turned vegan 2 years ago,but I bought a leather water/snow resistant pair last week. Its been really cold here lately, roads blocked due to snow,my feet was always freezing,I was always sick and my synthetic leather Adidas pair wasn't helping at all.:hmm:
I know they are not as cool, but a pair of plain looking black rubber boots is what I use up here in the North ie Canada. As long as you wear long socks and put your pant legs over the boot, ie not "farmer style" it doesnt look so bad. Personally I'd rather look like a goof than wear leather, but thats just me.

I know these things can make for difficult choices.

Thanks, it's been tough being the only vegetarian in the family, but my parents have been supportive ever since I found out that meat was, well, meat. :rollno:

Yeah, from my friends and extended family the jokes never stop. :scowl:

But I'm the one with the better health and the better Karma. :)

right on bro! yeah, what's with all the hate on us? we don't impede anyone's happiness at all. I don't get bigotry (in any sense)

I'll take a partial number. I cook meatless most of the time, but am not a strict vegetarian.

sorry it wouldn't be fair to give a number to a 'recreational vegetarian' but we're still here to support :hiding:

What about 33 and a 1/3rd?

Hate to be exclusionary... after all isn't alot of *it* about kindness? :smug:

It's not exclusionary, either you're a vegetarian or you aren't.

It's very cool to have a mostly veg diet, good on the poster who's eating that way, but for people who eat veg for the ethics of it their isn't a gray area with recreational meat eating.

I hear what you're saying.

But I honestly dont think its that big of a deal. Its just a club on the Internetz after all. My overriding reason for being vegan is kindness & compassion so that's my first priority. I think we can attract more people to a veg diet by modelling kindness rather than self-righteousness (not that I am saying that about you Andrew in any way... I've been called that before, when I was younger and I didnt like it one bit). If giving out numbers actually caused harm, then I certainly would have a different feeling about it.

Anyway no biggie.

Just my .02

Yeah, congrads dude.

I've been 100% vegan since October 1996... I can't say that its always been a picnic, but if one makes it a priority in one's life it certainly is possible. I think a key to being able to maintain it is to allow yourself the odd 'slip-up' once in awhile. When one gets super dogmatic about it, life becomes hell. I was like that for the first few years, but then mellowed out and tried to see the big picture.

I was a Vege for about 15 years and initially enjoyed the benifits, but hit a wall healthwise at about 10 years in.... I stretched it to about 15 years but had to put meat back in my diet.
I was very carefull to get all the protiens etc but ultimately it got the better of me.

I now offer a small prayer of thanks to the poor beastie who died so I could live.

Full credit to anyone who has the metabolism to sustain being a Vege! Good on Ya!
