Vegetarian Club Anyone?

Ok, I asked that question in another thread, but it's no harm to do it again here.

Those of you guys who use Couch guitar straps - what can you say about their feel with a heavier bass? They look wonderful, but the fact they're only 2" makes me cautious. As far as I could understand, the Racer X models are padded and the others are not. Does the padding compensate for their narrowness? Anyone had a chance to A/B one with a 3" padded leather strap?

Is the strap (or any parts thereof) made of leather? If yes, you have no business posting this question here :scowl:

If not, well you're in the wrong forum anyway :D

Couch guitar straps are strict vegan straps mentioned in particular several times in this thread. I am most interested in the experience of people who gave up leather and switched to Couch straps because they have the ability to compare these and those. Take things easy. If you don't know these straps, you can't help me so why bother.

They're not bad at all. I generally use cheapy nylon(i think) straps these days. I did, however, have a Couch strap back in my 'militant vegan straightedge' days, but I lost/misplaced it on a tour :bawl:

Really good stuff and not nearly as pricey as other vegan products!

The hardest thing was finding shoes (that looked good) made without animal products. Ended up with Saucony.

I am going to try to replace my current strap with either a Couch strap or one of those Planet Waves straps with the plastic "locking" ends. Almost all straps I have seen have leather ends. Then I'll just have some furniture to replace and my life will be animal free except for eggs and dairy.

I'd recommend all vegetarians to visit India at least once in their lifetime: it's paradise for us (veg) guys.

in all honesty, this is partly a social decision as veganism can be awkward at times, especially in tasmania, and partly too an excuse because I have dismal willpower (smoker, potsmoker, borderline alcoholic).

I totally understand not wanting to have dead animal flesh in your mouth but somehow it never weirded me out.... or is it a matter of principal thing, eating meat is endorsing it as an individual?

I guess I have a bigger problem with factory farming than eating meat..

anyway, thanks for the rant, I don't want a number but I'm certainly subscribed.

Got my Racer X today. Some while ago I asked here if anyone had a chance to A/B one with a 3" padded leather strap. Well, I must confess... Racer X is BETTER! Much more freedom and a much better weight distribution. I anticipated that when I made up my mind to give it a try: a narrower strap should not restrain the back (a wide one kinda sticks to it), and also should not press the deltoid that much, laying on the shoulder only, not on the neck. All that proved to be true, but just better. I barely feel the weight of my Yamaha BEX.

And, yes, it's got a stylish look also : )
