Verellen Kalaloch (speaker cable) problem (gets hot !!)

It doesn't even look like the cable was put through the hole in the terminal.
And if you can't get it in the hole, all bets are off, and you shouldn't be making cables for others.

Of course, some of the ugliness could be a result of the failure mode Andy mentioned. Although I imagine if they heated it enough to damage the plug, it looked like hell before it was sold.

1400 watts (700 per side) of lightweight class D solid state power with a hand-wired tube preamp front end

all tube clean preamp offers headroom and bandwidth making it a great platform for guitar, bass, keys, etc… works great with pedals

each of the two preamps have independent inputs, volume and 3 band eq

can be run in stereo mode where each input is driven separately into it's own dedicated power amp

Edit: I'm fairly certain this can't be the rule, though. There are plenty of guitar amps with bridged power modules that use a 1/4" speaker out. For instance, Kemper Profiler Power Head.

Each module operates in bridged mode but the pair of modules are not bridged.

There are no safety approvals shown, therefore what you see is what you get, and what you don't see might not be what you think you get.

Sorry to disagree with you yet again Rick but the NL4 series of plugs and sockets are the defacto standard for SpeakOns on pro-audio equipment. This is for compatibility reasons.

NL4 are the industry standard for the male panel connectors, the FEMALE can be either NL2-FC or NL4-FC, both will work into the NL4 male panel connector. The NL-2 male panel connector is not compatible with anything but the NL2-FC

Guitar or bass shouldn't matter.
Wattage should dictate the types and count of connectors

Actually, voltage is generally the driving variable for the type of connector for safety reasons, but current also factors into the equation as power increases (or rated load impedance drops)

Yeah, no doubt, some tube amps have them, but most tube amps that I've seen don't. And usually it's less of a safety issue because the sleeve on most tube amps is chassis ground and it's fewer watts. Your amp can put out 1400 watts in bridged mode. And when bridged, the sleeve is not connected to ground. This means a freak accident can do ridiculous amounts of damage in a short amount of time. Like sound engineer drops a mic cable behind the cab and their metal bits touch.

This is a problem indeed, BUT the amp itself is not bridged. Each module consists of bridged outputs, each output is independent and must drive its own load that can not be connected together in any way.

Each output's sleeves are not at ground due to the construction of the individual modules.

I looked this toggle switch line voltage selector up in the 60065 standards, because I myself wondered if it was legal to use (even though I did gasp when I saw it), and there are several issues that apply... the first of which is that with a user accessible external voltage selector it must clearly marked in the regulations specified manner (which it is not, section 5), and in fact it is prohibited by section 14.8 (the voltage setting device shall be so constructed that changing the setting from one voltage to another is unlikely to occur accidentally).

While many here complain about the nature of safety and EMC regulations, they are in place to keep us safe and to prevent bad things from happening. Overall, it really does make sense.
 
I wonder if they escape regulation under a small quantity, prototype level clause, if exists. It does exist (or did) in the US for laboratory instrumentation. The exclusion did not release the manufacturer from any liability, other than regulatory fines and stop sales orders. Or that amp company might just have hopes of not getting caught.

It would have to get pretty damn hot to melt the solder and for it then to pull out of the hole but you never know I guess.

There are some speaker cables, often marketed as "unique", "high tech", "audiophile", or "special" that have unusual construction elements that add inductance and/or capacitance in large enough amounts as to interact with the amp's stability.

Illegal load is a load that contains some element (reactive or resistive) that fall outside the range of what the amp was designed to drive.

It's also possible that there is an issue with the amp itself, that's why I think it would be a good idea for a (real) tech to investigate this.

Thanks for the clarification. I know that there's a market for various high-end and audiophile speaker cables but wasn't aware that this could be an issue with some of them.
