Very ugly nice bass...

Oh, come on! Someone is going to be offended because some random person on the internet said a bass is ugly?! Who the hell cares what I think? People need to learn to like what they like and have enough self confidence to not care/be offended by what people say.

So let's try to make this objective...

If looked at, this bass may or may not hurt ones eyes...
I don't make the rules. I am just pointing them out to the posters in this thread. You know publically complaining about them is also a breach of the rules, right?

I think this BassLab creation might appeal to some of the Scottish Nationals among us!

It's getting pretty bad when we can't express an opinion without offending a dozen people. :scowl:

Thats not the deal actually, in this thread you might either like the bass or not noone cares beyond that. But the times when the bongo was a newcomer everyone thought they were funny by telling it looked like a toilet seat and blah blah... it might be true but it was a pain in the ass to have a thread started and having over 10 faux-trolls telling you your bass was ugly, sometimes crossing the line.

Bottom line if you dont like a bass (or anything...) first of all be polite and remember to say "IMO" or something like that, and if you feel like it is going to start a can-o-worms just dont post it, is worthless it always ends with thread closure and youre screwing someone elses source of information.

UGLY BASS Threads - read before you post.
from here on out there will be no more ugly bass threads tolerated in the bass forums, unless you are posting about your own instrument.

too many folks participate here with too diverse a set of instruments for these kinds of threads to end up doing anything but pissing people off.

interesting thing - the folks with experience, who gig and who are in general serious about bass usually don't waste their talkbass time posting about basses they don't own, talking about how they find someone else's instrument to be ugly . something to emulate, folks.

so if you want to talk about an ugly bass, make sure it's one of your own, or it will be deleted.

EDIT(jt) : the bongo addendum this goes for posts too. you wanna call a bass a toilet seat, that bass better have a handle or else you better own one.

if you have a negative opinion about an instrument, be sure to tie it to something beyond the subjective appearance - "the body was uncomfortable for me to play" or "the neck was too round for me, felt like a baseball bat".

otherwise, if you find something ugly, say so if such an opinion is asked for, otherwise keep it to yourself. this isn't rocket science, guys. respect other folks' instruments.

I am not condoning mud-slinging or insulting anyone.

When someone asks the question:

"Is it just me or does this make you cringe"

People are going to give their opinions.
That will always offend somebody.
Nothing can be done about that, because there will always be someone offended.
If you go around making rules all the time telling people that they can't express their opinions, no good will come of it.

It is censorship.

People also need to express themselves a little clearer also.
As was said, write that it is "IMO".
Let it be known it is only your opinion.
Of course, if someone is just showing of their new toy, it is not OK to tell that person how ugly you think their bass is.
It is rude, and poor etiquette.Better to say nothing.

This is all my personal opinion.
Take it as you may.
