Victor Wooten....Hartke?!?!?!!!!

I find it so funny that everyone is hanging on the edge of thier seats to find out what rig Victor is going to settle on. No doubt, many will run out and purchase the same rigs within weeks in the hopes of getting that "Victor Sound". Folks, I hate to tell you this, but Victor is going to sound awesome through just about anything he touches. He could pick up a beat up, old $100 Fender knockoff with three dead strings, played through a Crate practice amp, and I gaurantee that you would all be blown away by the sound. Personally, I'm not a big Ampeg fan, yet everytime I see Victor I am amazed at his tone. I doubt many here could pick up his bass, plug into his rig and have it sound anything like Victor. So, let's just enjoy the man and his music and stop worrying about whether or not he is going to pick your favorite amp as his own.
By the way....my money's on Aguilar! :D

Some people are obsessed with Britney Spear's maternal situation, some people are obsessed with what Paris Hilton is wearing, and some people can't wait to see lindsay lohan back in rehab for doing crack or something...

...we obsess over what other bassists are using now...sounds healthier than that other stuff to me lol :)

I saw Victor @Atl. Bass Gallery about a year or so ago.He did a clinic ,the I caught the show @The Variety in town.
He was using Ampeg...at the clinic, and on stage. Also he was signing autographs on Ampeg promo shots.
A GREAT clinic and a GREAT show!!.If anyone gets the chance ...go to his shows and a clinic if it's near enough. They are life changing.

I got word from a rep last night that he has some Hartke cabs out right now- the new Hy-Drives.
Anyone see him soon let it rip.

(also Marcus IS back with SWR and the M2 amp/pre-amp IS coming out- and EVERYthing by SWR is now made in Mexico- but thats another thread....:D)

Victor's fingers make him sound good, moreso than his speakers.

This is 100% true.

To be honest, I don't really care.
At the end of the day, IMO he's gonna take two things into account:
1) Does it give him what he needs??? Which, at least with Bela' Fleck, they use in-ears pretty much allways (he may with his solo tours now as well) rendering the stage rig flat out useless which means see #2
2) Who's going to take care of him more financially.

He knows more than I would guess 90+ percent of the guys on these boards, that the amp/cab DOES NOT define how he sounds.
HE does.

I don't recall anyone asking Etta James what kind of mic and PA she sings out of.................yet she still sounds like Etta James.

Victor will sound great no matter what bass or amp rig he chooses.
He wouldn't be the only pro to go for Hartke cabs, even if Hartke is
long past being the fad flavor of the year in bass gear as a brand name.

Larry Hartke is still devoted to making new products that work for bass players
and can be had at a reasonable price just like the other major amp makers.
I ain't a fan of the metal cone speaker thing but I have played through some
of the Hartke heads when I couldn't bring my rig,and the stuff sounded pretty
fine to me. If Victor ends up liking the new Hartke stuff it means it's delivering
what he wants.

You know you contradicted yourself there right?

I think it's a maturity thing. I bought Ampeg when I was young because the pros used it, and it truly was the only choice I had besides Peavey. This was before the internet and Guitar Center.

I DO think Victor will sound GOOD no matter what he plays, true. But, let's be honest....great gear helps tremendously. I'm not a Wooten fan...not my kind of music. But, I wear out my Audoslave, Coheed and Cambria, Rage Against The Machine, and Finger 11 CDs. I'd like to play like those guys. But, I'll do it with my Carvin amp and Bergantino & Dr Bass cabs.
