I've seen Bela Fleck and the Flecktones three times, and would see them ten more times, and still not get bored. They're just incredible. In the last show I saw, they did this version of The Sinister Minister where Victor did this unbelievable solo and quoted School Days and Lopsy Lu. I've talked to him four times, and he's just the nicest guy.

I actually took a master class from him at Bass Day in New York. I got to sit about five feet away and watch him do some of the most incredible stuff on the bass I'd ever heard before. The amazing thing about him is that no matter how virtuostic he gets, it's always musical.

Went to Victor's concert the other night. After seeing this man play there is no doubt in my mind that he is one of THE BEST BASS PLAYERS IN THE WORLD. I met him and his brothers (Reggie and Joseph) after the show and they were probably the nicest guys I've met that are famous. His brother reggie ranks up there with one of the most talented guitar players on the earth now that I saw him play. Reggie is not a shredder, (he can do that too) but he plays the weird ass chordal tapping runs at blazing speed. I also met J.D. Blair aka "The Groove Regulator". He is the drummer you might have seen behind the kit for Shania Twain. Victor picked on him about it all night long. He was a really nice uy to and great drummer. what a great show, What great people.

I was at the show the other night. I didn't think it was his best show. The energy seemed low. Did you go the last show he did at Ziggy's? That was a much better show. He was on that night. It seemed he was just going through the motions Saturday. I've seen Vic many times. I used to live in Nashville when he lived there and I would talk to him and his brothers all the time. Great guys. If Vic could write an interesting song, he would almost be up to the Jaco level, not quite, but close. As it is now, he's still very good, just can't compose.
I've seen JD many times as well and think with out a doubt, he's one of the best groove drummers around. I would love to lay with him.

I've seen him 3 times (twice with Flecktones (once about 10 years ago with Howard Leavy in the band and once about 3 years ago) and once this past week on his solo tour.).
All times with the flecktones he got a solo spot, but seeing him interact with the rest of the flecktones is also amazing.

Hey Man, I'll be there too... Stubb's BBQ right? I actually live in Dallas, but I am going to see that show with my Girlfriend who goes to UT. Gotta love a girl with good taste in music!! :D :D

The last (and only) time I saw the Flecktones was at the Fry Street Fair in Denton, that was easily the best outdoor show I have ever been to... People were blowing up condoms and tossing them around like beach balls and Bela grabbed one and was goofing around with Jeff Coffin with it during a sax solo... Amazing musicians with a great down to earth sense of humor!!
