Vintage masking tape

I'm thinking of adding this mod to my Squier Affinity, but I'm worried that it might affect the value of the instrument.

I'm also wondering about the shipping cost. It seems rather low. I don't want to cheap out and cut corners on something like this.

I agree - there's no point in buying vintage Fender tape unless it's pre-CBS. That later stuff is just generic old paper tape, it won't even have any of Leo's DNA stuck to it.

Do we know who the supplier is? I mean, after all, I would hate for this to have been on a guitar finished at the end of the day, the roll had run out, and all Leo could do was get a similar roll to what he usually used at the hardware store down the street. Then again, being a one-off, that could make everything even more valuable.

That's the transitional tape. CBS had bought the company but they were still using up the stockpiled parts. Of course it wasn't wrapped around the wires by Abigail Ybarra so it's not going to give you that legendary tone.

You're the first person I know who bought a Squier Affinity with resale in mind. As far as I'm concerned, Affinities were made to be modded guilt free.

It's obvious..... this is a "home-relic'd" section of tape and is FAKE. Look at the way it curls....... steam has been applied to simulate years of being wrapped in an old stinky guitar. I'll bet if you smelled it you'd get a whiff of Squier or something.

There is only a small piece because the rest was chopped up and smoked. That's the real value.

I just put blue masking tape on my banjo tailpiece to hold the pickup wire in place. Do you find that the color matters?
