I have confirmed with Tech21 that the mid center frequency on the VT Bass DI, as all the other VT products, is indeed 1KHz. They tell me that this is a part of the "personality" of the VT stuff, and that their manuals and specs will be updated.

Taking "BASSIST's advice and going with the TH...
"eublet"s comparison of the Para driver and the TH nailed it for me.
Gotta have the parametric mid.
Done as much research as I can without actually having one in hand. I believe it will fit what I want better, plus I already have a PBDI, and it may end for sale after I finally get the TH.
They are difficult to come by, too, though.

Chances are I'll be selling my Tone Hammer DI pedal if I like the VT DI, which I mostly likely will.
However, I can't sell it for probably about a month... once I get the VT and go over it thoroughly.

Hell....I ended up selling my VT Bass V1 about a month ago. I am hanging out to dry here with these gigs coming up anticipating that I would be able to purchase a VTDI in early July. I might have to use my V4B instead.
I hear they are finally shipping.

Had a good chat with Tech 21 on facebook. Great service.
Essentially they said that the VT BASS DI will have a hotter output but there are also other factors to consider when driving a power amp.

Yeah, but what if you use the blend knob down, you can use it just as a preamp, no?
Yeah, you can do that. However, I am guessing that with the blend knob totally at zero the VT may not have as much output to drive your power amp.... depending on the power amp's sensitivity.
I could be wrong about that though.

I just got notice from Sweetwater that I have one on the way. Didn't think I actually placed the order back in May, but I guess I did.

Just got mine. Nice unit. Crunchy as all heck. Pretty darn good Ampeg emulation, and seems high quality. Nice options/functions (i.e., ability to boost output to drive a power amp with either the DI out or the 1/4 output, etc.). Dig it.
Do NOT get the Tone Hammer - The battery compartment is a nightmare if you dont have the 18 volt power supply.
