VT Bass DI available?

Just spent an hour with the VT DI and my Aguilar TH500 head, going back and forth and checking out the sounds I can get from each one.

Quite frankly, very similar, when using the TH350/500's variable drive and gain control (which is a bit like a more powerful 'drive knob/cab emulation combination on the VT). The one thing the Aguilar cannot do is that super crunchy, super crisp grind that the VT does when you engage the 'brite' button. Everything else is pretty close for me (at least with the variable drive control on the amp, which is not on the pedal). Nice 'effects' deal in front of the amp, but I'm not really into that.

Again, nice unit, but doesn't bring much to the party for me over and above the TH500 front end. If I needed BIG power, the VT DI would be a pretty nice front end for a guy with a P Bass and big power amp though.

Mine is going back. I was torn between this and the DK Vintage Microtubes - chose the VT Bass DI.
Vintage Microtubes here I come - this VT bass makes every pedal before it in the chain !POP! every time their switch is used - goes straight to the cab and POP!! - nasty sound from any rig.

I wanted to like my 3rd VT Bass edition, but it really truly is just not meant to be.

Could any of you people who already got your pedals please post some sound clips? I'm very anxious to hear how it sounds if used like an overdrive pedal (blend at noon, character and drive at 3 o' clock), though none of the stores are shipping to Brazil yet...

It's funny, since I basically cascade VT Bass and TH500 preamp overdrive. The VT will give me the really bitey, snappy clang when I want it, and the TH gives a nice vintagey warm "fur" to the tone.

I had a chance to take the VT Bass DI for a spin tonight. I have had a BDDI as an essential part of my setup for over a decade (mostly for the DI the last 5 years). I like the VT, but struggled to dial in the tone. Once I got it dialed in it was great. The VT Bass DI is perfect for me. Blend is where it is at! Went straight from delivery truck to rehearsal, so I couldn't tweak the knobs much. I had speaker sim and bite engaged, dialed in my typical VT settings and blended to taste and had a huge smile on my face all night. I slapped the Velcro on it and replaced the BDDI without a second thought when i got home tonight.

Any Canadians who are looking for a VT Bass DI, Long & McQuade apparently has them in stock now. The one I ordered in May was sitting on my front step when I got home today.
Cool, thanks for the tip. I have a $50 deposit on one at L&M Vancouver but as luck would have it I'm leaving for a roadtrip for a gig tomorrow night and probably wont be back til Friday.

Sorry the pedal didn't work out for you. When you say the VT Bass made the other pedals before it "pop" did you have the VT Bass engaged and how was it set? Was it set for distortion, was the pedal set up for unity gain?

The reason I ask is that if the pedal was set up to boost or distort your signal, anything ahead of it will be amplified including any noise or pops from other pedals. Were the other pedals true bypass or buffered?

If this is the case you will experience the same issue with the DK Vintage Microtubes.
