VT Deluxe Talkbass group purchase?

Just had my first rehearsal with the VTD. I finally have the tone that I dreamed of. I'm not even kidding and I'm usually pretty pessimistic and skeptical about these things. It even makes my other effects sound better. I'm pleased.

I'm having a little bit of trouble keeping the volume dialed in on all 6 switches. I'm sure we just need to get used to it.

so.... more details here http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=680293 .....

i'm having a huge problem with the VTD. it works fine with a fuzz or an octaver or a delay or a filter turned on by itself. but if i go fuzz on -> octaver on -> VTD there's a huge volume jump.

can anybody with these effects try to reproduce this? see if i have something wrong with mine? i'm gonna call Tech21... tech support when i get time.

oh yah. i have no problems with the same setup going in to the PBDI.

murrrfhg?

behindy, i think you better find a better place for that fuzz. fuzz doesn't work well for me before anything but the vt. i always had to keep it way down in the line when i've used it, well the one and only time i used it. this was with the fuzz face patch on the zoom b2. but you're fuzzing up those octavers and making them react in bizarre ways, i do believe.

in other words, behindy, your board has poor feng shui. this surprises me about you, because i always thought you were a guy who had his chakras in alignment. i'm sure there is a feng shui specialist in your area that you can visit to give your board the good chi it deserves. especially since you live in looneyville, california. i'll bet she could rearrange your board with the proper feng shui for no more than $125.

or you can move your fuzz to the end of the line yourself, say a couple hail marys, and accomplish the same thing.

lol... but i CAN'T put it at the end. the VTD is my post efx DI for gigs.

and i DO like the fuzz in front of the octaver. smarty pants. worked FINE with my board before i put the VTD on there.

i dunno what's going on, because i even tried running the octaver with the octave down section turned off... so it SHOULD be a dry signal going in. but soon as i click on the octaver (if the fuzz is on) BOOM. way too loud. and octaver or fuzz work fine solo'd into the VTD.

hur! what you got on THAT jimmid??!?

..... and i rub down my board every night. happy ending too if it's in the mood.

you know what i think with all that new info? i think i have cursed you. i believe you can't use effects that i use because of some weird internet curse. first the micro pog, now this.

btw, i took your micro pog with me on this road trip, and it actually did that volume cut thing you were telling me about. but it only did it once at soundcheck and worked fine after that. so tha tells me that you really weren't hallucinating, but i really do believe that you're cursed to only use effects that i don't.

so no more micro pog, oc2, vt, british, rat, syb-3, deluxe electric mistress, kmd overdrive +, boss me-33, or zoom b2 for you.

DAMN YOU JIMMMMMMMMMY!!!!!!!!!

urf.... NOPE. i think my SansAmp stuff is immune to the Parallel Usage Theory you're espousing. EHX stuff? i believe it.

i had a OG VT that worked fine while you were running yours. so there. nyah!

but i'm cool on everything you listed. you just BETTER NOT GET A FREAKING PICKLE PIE B!!!

.... i'll cut ya.

Jake - yep. it still does the volume jump with fuzz and octaver on if none of the channels on the VTD are engaged.

i know.... it's just WEIRD. i can drop the PBDI in the VTD's place and all works peachy.

i'm on my way home to fiddle with stuff.

hee...... fiddle. as soon as a violin is used to play country music, it becomes a fiddle.

so.... posted this in the thread where i was asking for help on it.... but it's sorta on-topic here so.... yahp.

about what i thought was the VTD being crappy with my Fuzz Octo combo....

well.... Matt from Wren & Cuff (AWESOME guy) talked me into putting a Boss LMB-3 (only Boss pedal i have) between the PPB and the Aggy Octo, turned off, to take advantage of it's buffered bypass. it fixed it.

i TOTALLY misdiagnosed what was the problem. it was that the PPB was putting out such a small signal turning on the octaver put it back to the correct volume, but i had turned it up so much that the "correct" volume was too loud i think. hence the volume jump.

i'm not too bright about true bypass/bypass issues.... what's going on? what's a way to fix it without adding another pedal that i don't want to my board?

grrf. ANNOYing.

so, Jakey Bassy, i'm sorry. i WAS going to send you my VTD. had it wrapped up and everything. but i GUESS i'll have to keep it.

sigh. :)

but there's really not that many now! it's only 6 pedals, then the m9, then the VTD!!!

i had like 3 more on my big board, and twice as much cable. and it all works fine with the PBDI at the end 'stead of the VTD.

i'm...... a gip about true/buffered bypass stuff tho.... why would there need to be a buffer between the first two pedals? it seems (again, i know nothing about what i'm talking about) that the buffer would need to be later if it was a signal length issue thingy.

....... or something.

GRRRRRRR!

*chews on furniture in frustration*

mr wren and cuff explained it in your other thread. an impedance issue is causing your octamizer and pickle pie to not see each other. the lmb 3 acts as a buffer to straighten out that issue. might find something smaller to buffer it than a boss pedal, but i think you're stuck with having something in there if you want to use all 3 together.

edit...never mind, i see you saw it and have been researching.
