@ChefKen Lately Pro prices have a been erratic. For a Pro II, it can go anywhere from $2400 - $3600. It also depends on condition, includes OHSC, fretted or fretless, etc.

Hey guys, new member to the club as of a week ago. I won't lie, I've been stalking this board for awhile trying to find a piece of my own and finally pulled the trigger (much thanks to Brett for parting with this lovely). After getting a quote on a build from Philip (got back to me almost immediately) of around £6500, this was a steal! I still may have him go ahead with it since it's a 22 month window, and price increases are a bitch. I put in the shot of the specs, @kulit17 was correct the poly finish is solid mahogany. 
I'd think the price for this would be in the upper range.... one sold like that on TB a couple months I think...can't remember the price it went out for (easy search though)
@Dingwaller congrats!!! Bretts been holding that for a while....... cant believe he let go such a fine specimen.
Well, I made a deposit for my second Mk1 yesterday. This time around I'm having the body and headstock front painted British racing green metallic. I know some guys prefer the gloss neck, but the entire back of mine will be clear satin. I completely fell in love with the feel of my first Mk1's neck so I wanted that again. Not to mention I love seeing the wood strips that make up the neck. I added an Xtender and strap locks to round of the build. I am beginning to understand the desire to buy them up and horde them, although this will likely be my last. I figure this is money much better spent than a Fender custom shop Jaguar guitar that I was considering that would have almost cost the same price. Just in case it hasn't been mentioned, build times have hit 24 months as of my order.

Generally nearly all will be solid mahogany. But of course Spiritchaser's white moby MkII has a spanish cedar solid body. But I remember an odd particular post someone made a long time ago saying when he asked Pete about a clone of Geddy's black MkI, that it would have to have maple faces under the black finish. Don't know how true that is, since that was the first claim I'd ever seen of it...but then again I'm not a fanatical Geddy guy, so again it could be hearsay.
Interesting observation! I sure wish I could compare your MkII 5 and MkIII 5 to my early MkII 5.
I could easily see the difference in pickup spacing between the 4 string MkII and MkI, but was suprised to also find a pickup spacing difference on the 4string MkIII. I wondered if that carried over to the 5ers too?
I'm fairly certain that MK3 would cost closer to 10k now when it's all said and done (customs and shipping alone would approach $800). Not a bad price considering.
Just curious here being fairly new to Wal basses what kind of string do some of you prefer on these basses? Gauge size, brand, stainless or nickel? I know its mainly what sounds good to your ears but was just seeing what other people thought on string selection for there basses. Thanks!
I strung mine with cobalt slinkys, 100-45. Nice tone out of those, a touch clearer in the mids to me with a nice "sparkle" on the highs. You need to roll off the highs on your rig with them in my opinion due to that, they hold up pretty well too. Don't know how they compare to steel stings as far as fret wear though...
Anyone know how much the Wal Mk. 1 flight cases are worth? I've got one to sell and would like to know what the demand is.

Depends on condition. As far as Wal cases in general, sell prices have been $150-300 for a used case.
Wise decision...Wals have that effect on people. I know the feeling.Lots of second guessing.
I didn't realize the pickup spacing was different among MKI's and MKII's. Is that just the case in older era wals or do the new wals also have the different pickup spacing between MKI's and MKII's. Just curious
I have to say although my fingers like the nickels I love the sound of stainless steels on the Wal. Especially if you turn on the pick attack and do some slap. So much attack. BTW, your the first person on talkbass I have seen in my neck of the woods. Were only about 45 minutes apart. Might have to get together and jam wals sometime
The new ones are made exactly the same as the old ones. Yes, on the 4string basses; the MkI pickups are the furthest spread apart, the MkII are closer. The MkIII 4 banger pickups are spread 2mm
more apart than a MkII, fwiw.
