Wal Bass Club.

How would you guys feel about a Wal trade with somebody from outside talkbass? I’ve spent so many years buying/selling/trading on this forum and take for granted the fact that people’s feedback ratings are available and it’s generally people I “see around” on the forums. The idea of doing a high end gear swap with no feedback system sketches me out a bit I guess. I was honestly just looking for some opinions on what your guys thoughts were.

Funny, I just realized prob 95% of all my Wal purchases were found and not done on talkbass.....I think the one and only one I got here on TB was my first Wal....the Magnum PI Pro IIe.

Anyhu, whether you get it on Ebay, reverb, basschat, bassdirect, bassgallery, craigslist...local.....Ask lots of questions and tons of pics....trust your instincts!

A purchase wouldn’t make me as uncomfortable as a trade. With a purchase you have the safety net of things like PayPal protection, reverb, eBay, etc. or whatever. A trade is more just ship your baby off and hope they ship theirs off and trust nothing funny will happen hahaha. Anyways, he was looking for cash in addition on the deal so I backed out as I was looking for an even trade. That bass above is one of the ones he was talking about. It’s definitely a gorgeous Wal. I hope somebody from the club snatches it up!

So I thought this would be a good place to ask, I have a wal with what appears to be a taller saddle than the others making it tough to get the action even and low enough. anyone had this issue and how did you remedy the issue?

The A string saddle is the taller one on either the 4 and 5 string (Ive never had a 6 so dont know there). If you're bottomed out and still not low enough then the simplest thing is to make a shim to tilt the neck. I like to use construction paper because its typically .007-.009 thousands which is enough to make a big difference, and its not slippery like a business card so no neck shifts happen.

Easy, sell your 5er than buy this one lol..but ya a 5er isn't gonna fetch nearly the same amount as an mk2/mk3 4 string...

Do you really feel 6500 pound is a bargain?

Did you see how much the two Wals in Japan were selling for?? Those had standard options and had an inflated price for selling it of the floor.

Also you do know that Wal hiked up their price again?

Last I checked, gold was a £460 upcharge, £210 for ebony, and figured maple £410..... pricing might be out of date so it might be a bit more.

Not a "true bargain" for someone looking for a deal on Wal.....but a bargain for someone who was looking/in the market for a build with similar specs.

coz pictures are so much better.....

Yes I agree with you both. Still I feel the second hand prices of Wals go way over the top these days. I am glad I already have two.

ya i miss those days too......Pro's now seem to be creeping up in value as well.

guys who got there's around $2-3k (or even less) back in day and still have it lucked out pretty good!!
