guess not much lefties that plays 5er's with a unlined fretless neck wants a Wal....

Les, it was two guys selling their basses.
The one guy with the 5 string mentioned 'financials' forcing him to sell off his three Wals.
The other guy always has a new build going on and buys and sells a bit. I know he has a new order going, as well as at least one other older one in his fleet.

yes, wait time for it would be less prob 12-14 months.... not sure what cost would be.....last i inquired about a neck 3-4 years ago it cost a little bit more than a 1/3rd of getting a full build....so i'd guestimate it would be about £1900-2100 for a neck from Wal.

Wow, it's amazing how much it costs now just for a neck.
When my '85 fretless Wal got to be around 8 years old (around 1993ish), I decided to have Pete make me a fretted neck for it. I chose it to have an ebony fingerboard, and Pete suggested to get it complete with tuners & string tree so it would be a lot less work to switch it over. I don't exactly recall the price (I'll try to dig up the receipt later), but I think it was only about $250, though my memory may be wrong and it may have been $450 (but definitely not more than that). When I originally bought the bass in '85, it was $1,000 (plus $100 for shipping and $85 duty).

Since I have a little less than one year remaining on my custom order I thought it would be cool to buy a separate fretless neck for my upcoming Mk2. Would Paul be able to complete it to fit my current Wal neck joint order?

Finally plugged my Mk1 in to my live rig, and the 1/4" jack is noisy. Cleaned it well which made it much quieter, but there's still a faint amount of noise. Anyone have a switchcraft part # they favor? TIA.

This is the jack that Wal fit as standard. It isolates the 9v power from the audio signal or Earth using a physical switch activated by the tip of the jack pushing a leaf switch! Clever stuff.

Nice! That must be from around 1981. Interesting variants with the designs give the game away. Custom Body with a Pro headstock and a Pro with an outsized Custom headstock narrows the timing down nicely.

I can not believe how comfortable this bass feels... 8.2 lbs feels almost like nothing, especially when your first impression of a Wal was a 12 lb shedua six string. I play my mk1 a lot.. and I have spent some time with a 4 string Mk2, as well as a five string Mk2. This 4 string Mk3 was the final version I had left to try and spend some time with. Kind of speechless to say the least.
