carey gave me first dibs on it after JC gave it back, but it was bad timing for me since i had two Wal builds going on and i was about to pay off one of them (burgundy mist Mk2).... and his asking price was way more than i anticipated...it is a gorgeous bass though. love that neck!!

ya that neck is beyond gorgeous. Price was way more? eek... maybe i will convert one of my basses with his pickups and preamp... cool thanks for the pics.

In one of the videos of "Descending" at Rockville you can see Justin's tech put the Wal back on the stand to the side of the stage. I wonder if the Stingray was a backup sort of situation? If anyone can find clear footage of the song and the bass he uses at any of the other show let me know. I've come up short so far.

hence living in australia or going to australia was mentioned.....plus its rosewood.....CITES will be problematic....especially being sold by a dealer and not a private sale. I don't believe this store ships internationally either.

via private sale i'd have to agree, but through any dealers. it's a PITA.

speaking to steve chick (whose also in Australia) when i was getting my MIDI refretted he was telling me how CITES was making him jump through hoops for him to ship out basses with any Rosewood fingerboards - almost putting his business in danger (Industrial Radio). Also my recent experience with SIMs refinishing and retrofitting LEDs for my 2018 red Mk3 was a huge PITA getting the certificate for them to ship it..... the two private sale rosewood Sales i got overseas was easy peasy though.....so ya

Yes, this is totally the case.
The EU namely in Germany has a huge issue with CITES because DHL has the government contract to deal with their mail. Unlike USPS in the US or Canada Post here in Canada. DHL actually inspects packages prior to releasing them in Germany and in many cases want to see receipts. It’s crazy.
I won’t buy any basses from Germany for this reason unless I were to route it to a friend in the EU.

China has similar issues...but I much prefer sending to Hong Kong.

As always, selling and trading within North America is very easy. But it still depends on the individual person you’re dealing with. We’re always at the mercy of the sender and the courier. Once the bass has landed safely...all is good.

Talk about shipping woes: It took close to a month to get a Spector with Abalone blocks back into the USA. All the paperwork required was highly problematic but the F & W folks were very helpful getting me all the forms and documentation. Luckily my customer was patient and waited while the bass was held up in Customs.

An F Bass with a Rosewood top didn't fair so well. It was stuck in a Memphis warehouse for 5 weeks before the courier notified me the CITES paperwork was missing a stamp. The bass came back with a banana neck and they denied the damage claim.

We did a video similar to United Airlines breaks guitars.

Fodera is great to deal with. They get all the paperwork done in advance so BRW, IR and shell products such as MOP and Abalone are allowed to be shipped to their dealers, where permissible.





This had a happy ending thanks to Taylor Guitars.

FWIW, when I saw Tool last night, Justin was playing the Stingray again on "Descending", so I don't think it's strictly a backup.
