Wal Bass Club.

Can't help but notice the build time has increased to 30 months. Ouch, nearly 3 years for a bass? I thought 2 years for my Wal was a lot. Although I suppose if you've ever custom ordered a Carl Thompson bass, you wouldn't think much of this wait time.

My bass went over schedule just a bit, and although Paul was super apologetic, he mentioned that things were only getting busier. Considering the cost of these instruments, that does amaze me. That being said, my new Mk3 is no contest the best crafted instrument I have ever played, so the wait does end up being worth it! Honestly the first 3 months and the last 3 months were hard, but in the middle there was a lot going on and I almost forgot that I was in the queue.

Ouch, I wonder if Paul feels overwhelmed. I'm very glad I voluntarily pushed back my collection date by a few months. He was concerned that he would have to rush the bass out (to keep his word on the collection date) but I told him to take his time. I haven't solidified any Wal HQ trip plans yet, until he sends me an updated estimated completion date.

ok. not sure if many of you followed this but Sunday night a 1991 Mk2 fretless W3628 was posted for sale by a new TB member posing to be from CT for $4300 (a deal too good to be true). multiple of us got in contact with this gentlemen, but after conversing with each other we all got to a point and determined this guy was a scammer.

he posted very limited pictures of the bass and would not post any more and would only email it. i am only posting this here so there is a history, so if it gets posted elsewhere and a person does their research, they'll stumble upon us.

he posted this ad yesterday...same bass, but claiming to be in Spain. which is where we found the original person who took these pictures, which is a verified person (Spiritchaser) that most of us chatted with:

I put in an order last month for a new MK2 and got quoted at 27 months, which is a long time. Then a month later it got bumped up to 30 months. This is the same time the new TOOL album came out. I wonder if there is a connection...

Hi dear Wal fellows -
thought I'd chime in here to shine some light on the issue.
Yep this a*****e has obviously somehow hacked the email account of the last buyer of my Wal and blatantly used my pics and video clip to scam people worldwide. I'm so happy we're that connected and take care instantly of these morons collectively!
Take care!
Oliver / Germany

I wonder if they booted this joker from the German site yet.
Sadly, there's no official admin taking care of that site - I contacted the ones responsible - hope they react quickly now. Seems there are some more trying to scam people - always New Members with high end basses and low prices ... take a look at that Alembic for instance ... seems fishy too.
So stay alert folks!
