White really fits the 5 string not so much the MK1. The white 5 strings looks really cool!
The other 5 string in the classifieds sold in one day and that one was priced much higher so I am sure this will sell fast. Good luck with the sale!
I rather like the white Mk1, although I prefer the nice black board of the Mk2. Slap that black board onto the Mk1 and change out the gold hardware for black and hnnnnng!

Does Paul charge a premium for poly finishes? If ever I were to wait three years for a bass, it would be for a white Wal 5 string...
Yes, a steep premium, and body and neck paints are separate costs. Last year for just a white body option he said £820 was retail. I imagine the neck then being another £650-700?
I recently purchased my first wal bass and I cannot put this thing down! Everything from the feel to the tone is perfect. It’s really everything I thought it would be and more

I bought my Mk3 5-string (used) for $4500. Even with its issues and whatever the repair bill comes out to I think that still qualifies as a "bargain" in today's market.
And at the time I thought "well, this is it, with this bass I will be done FOREVER!"

Pondering to send my MK1 to Paul for servicing, and restoring the electronics to default etc... just don't know if it's worth it. It will most likely cost a lot and most likely change only miniscule things. The bass needs a refret and a new nut and of course a setup. I don't want to hassle him with creating an offer for this - any guesses about the cost involed in Wal maintenance?
Edit: Restoring electronics to default means the bass has a kill switch at the moment. I don't mind it, but it of course raises eyebrows and lowers value. But since the bass is kinda old I guess it would be a good idea to have the electronics checked/changed. I heard of issues with old capacitors?
What drives me nuts is the narrow slot for the E string, it can barely take a regular .105, I always need to squeeze the string end to make it even slide inside the slot. How do you handle this?
