Too snappy? What do you think Geddy's isolated track would sound like? That's why his Wal tone cut like a buzz saw. I'm also playing very slow and overemphasizing every note and nuance so people can hear all the ghost notes that Geddy does

I used to play Funk Masters when I was a kid because Geddy played them. They really let you get finger funky. Cuts through the boards pretty nicely and the low tension made them easy to play. I associate that combo with Wal because of the sound Geddy got so I tend to string my Wals with very light gauge strings.

Oh... I just noticed... that red Mk2 doesn't have the black skunk stripe front & back that Ged's big, red, horny bass has.

They were great strings back then! I think Rotosound changed the string though. I believe they used to be piano string design right with the exposed ball end?

The gentleman I bought the whammy one told me he was a big fan of Jonas Hellborg and contacted Pete to have one made similar to JH. He was from Sweden. The one I have is a full solid body mahogany with rosewood fingerboard. The electronics is full active so it has the single filter in the preamp and pick attack switch.The non-whammy is a full solid body maple with ebony fingerboard. The gentleman I got this from bought it from the original owner who needed the money after owning it for only 6 weeks back in 96. I had him drop it off to Paul so he could service it.

Gees. Can't believe someone actually pulled the trigger. My car cost substantially less than this.
Wals are not only selling faster than anything else. But this puts a new high, and looks to me that Wal values have been going up faster than preCBS Fenders.
I remember back around '08 when a 4 string Mk2 went for $7500, and then around '11 when another Mk2 went for $9k. Both times I was thinking that was totally insane, but didn't take more than a coupe or few years for the rest of the market to catch up afterward. And within that I would have been happy to pay 7500 for a Mk2 4.
So now this...is low teens for Mk2's right around the corner for the 'norm'?
I know Ishibasi has been receiving brand new Wals from Paul (same as what we pay, same build times) and they markup for profit and sell in the teens there. So I know there has been a few sold at that level already.
