Ya, @ModuMan has some good info there --- it reminds me of a Warwick i bought used and the nut had (i think) Kleenex stuffed in the slots of the E, A strings lol...i assume he has encountered the same 'rattle' and this was his 'band-aid fix'. Musta worked - but I put Roto's in it, and i never had a problem - kleenex-less...so maybe his string gauge was light(?)
Is the Wal bass database still active? Can you still add your bass to the database? How do I do that? Or is it dead?
That database had been dead for many years. The guy did it at a University, and after he left, it was on their server for years 'til the Uni decided to purge.
ok too bad. I guess we all have some Wals to contribute to the database. But I guess it's a lot of work to keep up such a database.
I was a volunteer for Matt Schmill of the BGRA back in the day (late 90's / early 2000's). I reviewed so many peoples bass and gear review submissions over the years. Part of what got me so interested in trying all these brands I kept reading about and they were impossible to find where I'm from until many years later.
Matt did the sort of the same thing, set it up during university and eventually got very busy with life.
I just looked now at the website is barely functioning and none of the reviews work.
I too remember the Wal database. It was so cool reading all those added details by the Wal serial number.
It's thankless work really to maintain a database like that and of course it takes $$$ too.
It would be awesome to see another database for Wal appear again that was as legit. Maybe one day one of us will take on that task?
Anticipating that one day the university would wipe their servers I downloaded all of the data a few years ago and popped it up on my Blogger site - so the info is still there for Wal lovers to browse through... There was some random guy in the FB Wal group that wanted to restart one, but then it seemed it lost steam or really never had any responses - don't think he ever posted anything after that ever since which was kind of strange.

As an updated database I dont think all the owners names and comments are needed, just do the basics: serial number and bass description.

It's a bummer the links to the pics in the original database don't work anymore. It was cool getting to see some of them.

I disagree, because my first Wal was stolen, and I want it to be known that it's stolen and who it was stolen from.
I have about 20 years of collecting data from Wal basses. Serial number based with pictures.

Need some type of database or a SQL server....i don't specialize in IT at all but that's my basic understanding of the matter lol
All you need is a host server. Anybody can go to Go Daddy or whatever and buy a domain and create a database.
