Wal's seem to subconsciously follow me when I least expect it. I couldn't pass up this 1996 Mk1 that appeared on the Wal Lovers Facebook group page last week. It safely arrived and I couldn't be happier to be back to owning 2 Wal's again. Thank you Roman for being a great seller and fast shipper! This is a super nice bass... This fine specimen was previously owned by Sean Sammon from Puddle Of Mudd. Fun fact: Pete's signature is in the control cavity, and Paul's is on the back of the neck. Needless to say I will be keeping this one!

Did anyone here buy the passive Wal mk1 (no Pro) with one bridge pickup here? I was sold for 3500 euro in Europe and then flipped within a few days for 6500 on Reverb. I won't be surprised if the US bass flipper(s?) will offer it for even more one of these days.
Not me, but it’s a shame that we in this club basically have to share wal listings like contraband because the flippers are circling like vultures .. every time I see our favorite vulture re-list a Wal for 11-14k I literally want to fly out west and smack him upside the head
literally no shame snagging a mk3 6-string for 8.5k and reposting it for 14k, ughhh just ridiculous

I'm not too worried about it, though I recognize (and feel) the frustration. Flippers may be asking a lot, but that doesn't mean they sell for a lot. There's a few Wals on Reverb that have been there for weeks because they are overpriced. The prices will either come down or someone will buy them at those prices. The latter meaning they are priced correctly, and the seller to the flipper sold it for less that they could have.
Another remedy is to list the known flippers here so that the participants in this group know their bass is likely to be re-listed for a higher price. Were it me selling a Wal, with that list I could offer it for sale here or on Reverb, and after not getting any other offers for a week or so let the flipper have it.

A Mk1 with a single pickup? I did not see that sale listing at all. Any pics of this bass?

It was a passive walnut Mk1 with two knobs and only a bridge pickup.

It was this one. I don't know if this type of Wal is the culmination of the true and genuine Wal sound.

Question for anyone currently or recently built/building a Wal...
Seems they're pretty busy and backed up, I would imagine maybe due to the Covid issues we're all dealing with... I'm about 30 months into my build date, and we've last communicated about top woods.. I have since sent them two emails regarding string choice and having Schaller strap locks put on but haven't heard back...
Anyone in regular communication with them? or are they normally slow to respond as I imagine they're a small shop and have to focus on their building and not responding to emails all the time?
Also, when do they normally begin to finalize your bass? last month or so of the waiting period?

They are notoriously slow at emails, always have been. This was a two-man operation up until covid, and then as I understand it Paul was working alone during most of this time since it's a very small shop (I've been there, its a small farm building).
I know the custom parts sourcing has been an issue with other suppliers also being shut down or very limited output, so it affects everything down the line.
I'm on my 5th order (and #4 is currently at 32 months), and even I won't hear from him for 6 months at a time...but he will contact you. Once the body is done, Paul will send you a picture of neck and body with no hardware on it. You can reaffirm at that point he got your previous email about wanting strap locks and string choice, especially since it will still be another 2-3 months after that pic that it'll be done. And he'll send another once the bass has all the hardware and electronics installed.
Pic gets a number tho.

thanks ..very reassuring ... I though maybe I was annoying him with the emails ... granted was but two in the space of 1 month, but when he's got 100+ 0rders pending, that can add up!
May 2022 is the magic month!
