Hey guys, do any of you know if Wal is still providing customer support? I have reached out a couple of times about buying a replacement string retainer and haven't heard back. I trust that is because they are busy working on building but just thought I would check in here.

yeah they are insanely busy and equally bad at responding to emails... give it a few days, or you can call sometimes during business hours and they're better at answering.

I used to shop at the Bass Gallery back when I lived in London. I’ve probably played half a dozen Wals there over the years. They keep showing up there, which is nice!

Hopefully not a hardship or something, that is a beauty. If Bass Gallery knows the year then they could have given us a cavity/sticker pic Anyone know what that dark wood option is? It's along the lines of that I'm looking for for my build, something very dark (but not a black poly finish).

Thanks, I was looking at the Wal site... this Mk3 might be the wenge example shown there at the very bottom of 5-string - Wal Basses . The grain looks the same to me, might be the same bass.

Yeah its the same one. The other giveaway is the fretboard parallel dark stripes under the B and G strings.

I was made a believer yesterday. I had a Pro II Bass (passive) formerly but this is on a whole other level - fit, finish, electronics, looks, everything. Stunning for a 40 year old bass. I'll be buried with this one. Thank you @Janforth

it appears to be authentic to me, but certainly very strange .. no battery compartment is the strangest part... The whole "I'm not opening the back plate" has me a bit weirded out... as I don't know if Wal ever made a bass that didn't have the famous electronics .. I'm going to defer to someone who knows older / custom Wal's better, but for me, if I'm paying the market price for a used Wal from that era $9-10K, I want the normal Mk1 model ..
