Wanna replace my 410 HLF and go light

I love the sound of an Ampeg 8x10 cabinet. But mine now sits in my garage not needed. I went to a 4x10 hlf for the size of gigs I do and its has that same sound. I used an SVT II for my head but got tired of lugging that thing around, so I now have the Carvin BX500. But now I need a lightweight cabinet to go with it.
Any of the lighter cabs gonna give me that nice sound that I'm use to and love??

If you want to stay with a 410 the fender bassman neo 410 is very light and sounds good and not terribly expensive. I picked up mine for $450 used. If you want to spend a lot more there are several kill boxes out there. 212's especially

My ampeg 810 sits in the garage as well....I now use 2 GK Neo 115's. There is a big difference in tone between the two, but I really dig the tone of the 15's. As stated above the fender neo 410 could be a great alternative, have not tried them though. I believe they are sealed and not ported for a more classic tone.

If you're into 4x10's, my buddy just bought two of the Markbass neo's to replace his old Goliaths. I gotta tell ya, those things kick butt. Small, light, loud and they go loooow.

PF115he. You'll need two since they're 8 ohms each but two of them are still lighter than the 410hlf and go quite low. They sound like a cross between the 610hlf and an old B-15 cab from the 60's.

Fearful hifi cabinets don't really sound much like the old school Ampeg 810 or 410...

How about a pair of 210AVs? With an Fdeck HPF III in front, they can get pushed pretty hard, they definitely have that tight sound, and putting them side by side on the stage will get you plenty of low end on stage. And they are 26lbs each. This TB'er has a good commentary on them:

In all seriousness, I play an Ampeg PF-500 through these cabs. A couple turns of the knobs, and I get great ampeg tone out of my rig.

This. I have both the HLF and one 210AV and want to pick up another 210. I dont think it will go as low as the HLF, but it will still sound great and be much lighter.

Who shuts it off? There is a ton going on in the mids in "ampeg tone." Sure some may not want a ton of 5khz content, but that doesnt mean you dont want presence in the 800-3000hz region.

glasstone lil G comes in at a svelt 31 pounds and goes for $799..........it will replace "big name brand" 4x10 in performance and value due to the Faital pr300 12's that are in it..........

I used to own a 410HLF and 610HLF. I am now using an Epifani UL-115 and get very close to that 410 sound with my STM-900. The Epi cab is disco'd so you would have to look used.

I do believe that the OP turns the tweeter off on his cabinets, so full range drivers would more than likely cover his needs.

Disagree. I played through a fEARless F112 that weighed 30 pounds and was built out of wood. FWIW the F112 is actually smaller by 1/2" in width and depth, and the glasstone is listed at 39 pounds on the site.

Depends on his volume needs. If he wants to go small and loud, then he will need a certain amount of displacement to reach that goal. Most full range speakers that small are not going to have the displacement.
