Want to replace individual stomps with mulit-effects

yea, but I dig a lot of other effects on the M9, so if its the M9 and one stomp? I can deal. I already know which dirt pedal, just awaiting its arrival now.

hahaha.. My bust. My excuse: It was late. :D

I'm scoping them every day. I've had a couple close calls with M13's that were actually better "deals" than I've found on M9's. I'm so wishy-washy. I really like the size of the M9 and I think it will do the job just fine, but I can't seem to get over the "value" of the M13, for the buck. If you're patient, you can find M13's less than $275, but I'm still not sure whether I want one that big, even it does more. If the more is stuff I will never use, what's the point, right?

Decisions, decisions. M9 vs M13. New vs used. New vs blem. Used vs blem.

Clubdude....just go for it!! Trust me this thing has really grown on me. I play alot of funk stuff and this actually replaced the envelope filter i was using! NEVER thought that would happen but the tron-up mode just sounds so bubbly-wet and funky! So yea...despite my previous post this thing has REALLY grown on me. LOL there is one preset scene that i discovers makes like these waterfall like noises from my bass.....had a lot of fun looping that under myself :D

Haven't gigged with this yet since I didnt feel I was comfortable enough to use it last weekend, however I will soon. Honestly the hardest part right now is going to be PICKING the six effects i want to be stuck with. There are just so many choices...I know I only use about 4-5 in each rehearsal but getting to the point where Im not always fiddling and trying out new ones may take awhile.

I am really considering trading this in for an m13 though....I actually think it would be useful because even though I may not use all four effects at once, having six extra stompbox models at my disposal could be really useful. So lemme know if u guys find some good deals!



P.S. Sorry my posts are always so long, its just a slow morning at work and I haven't posted on this thread in a while.
P.P.S. Thanks you guys for talking me into getting this thing. It saves me sooo much hassle and setup at rehearsals/gigs! No more worrying about bad patch cables!

IMO you have to pair the dirt in the Line6 products (or any multieffects) with some EQ to make it work well for bass. Unfortunately with the M9 that means you're eating up 2 slots just for dirt which doesn't leave room for much else.

Honestly, if you get the M9/M13 and only find a handful of effects you really enjoy then you got your money's worth. I personally find most of the modulation effects really poor (too little control, no volume control for them, or sounds poor on bass). But you still get some good overdrive, fuzz, EQ, some decent modulation, great delays. That's a lot of usefulness for $300. Try buying just a delay with tap tempo in pedal form and you've racked up a good chunk of the cost of a M9.

I'd actually like to try a BOSS GT-10B. Boss products always have more controls per effect than you could need. So much control and tweakability per effect. The downside is they don't seem to have a lot of effect choices where the M9 is just chock full of all sorts of potentially interesting effects.

The real issue with multifx is they NEVER totally satisfy all of your effects needs. They always seems to do some things great, some things poorly, or have other issues. I've owned BOSS GT-6B (twice), BOSS VF-1 (really tweakable, lots of great sounds, but poor dirt and there's slight bass loss in the signal even when bypassed), BOSS SE-70 (still hanging onto it, great fuzz and synth), Line6 Bass POD Pro, Line6 Pod XT Pro, Line6 M9. I wish I could take bits and pieces from each and combine them into my own multifx. BOSS crushes with their massive amount of settings/customization (note the SE-70 isnt very customizable but still has tons of settings available). Line6 wins for sheer amount of interesting effects but they never provide enough controls over them.

Hey Gastric, I'm just outside of Greenville. Just watched your video--very cool. So, you're the "Professor", eh? :D

Do you have a M9 or a M13? I have posted my concerns (like yours) on the M9 about the fact I use comp all the time, and may have a problem with the layout of the other two effects in use at the same time. Not really worried about having more than three, but having access to them when they are in the same "bank", if that makes sense. You can only use one effect in each bank, so having a fourth bank might come in handy.

G&L, I'm glad yours is working out better for you now that you've had time to work with it some more. Have you downloaded the 2.0 update yet?

I'm sold already. I'm negotiating right now with several sellers, but they are all M13's. I guess they have been out longer, so there are more used ones out there, at better bargains. My fall-back will be the M9 new or blem. I think we would all like M9 size with M13 features. We're musicians. We're never totally satisfied. :crying:

Im still liking the M9 and will gig it for the first time on Friday. Man set up and tear down is going to be a breeze with the M9, my bass, and Im taking my SVT210AV cabinet because Ill be running through the PA too. This gig is an hour away from home and there is nothing like being able to grab your stuff and go at 2 AM (especially when your kids will be up at 6 AM and that usually means YOU will be up then too!) I may still take my overdrive pedal with me, and after the first set if Im not happy with the Line6 tube overdrive in the mix Ill plug it in.

I can't quit buying other stuff, and I'm not selling enough. Just bought speaker stands for my new PA. Almost bought another head to practice with in my studio, and I'm still looking. I've got some golf stuff just going on ebay. My wife is uber-understanding, but I don't want to go to the well once too often. I'll have one within weeks, not months.

In the meantime, ya'll enjoy 'em.

That is one of two sellers that keep knocking their prices down by pennies to stay ahead of the other. They were at $339, then 338, then 337.99, now $337. It's kinda funny.

Had one go for $319 and one for $329, so it's getting competitive. I've seen $359 from a dealer and it was broken into four payments with a 30-day free trial. $20 more bucks for installments plus 30 days to check it out. That way, if you decide you want the other model, you can exchange it. (say M9 for M13)

I'm still tracking some M13's that are going for around $300. That would be hard to turn down, even if they are used, with no free trial. I'm hoping patience is a virtue, Gus. :cool:

Got a guy who supposed to pick up my 5-string OLP tomorow. (crossing fingers). Seems solid-retired guy.

So, now to the burning question: M9 or M13?

If you could get an almost new, unscarred M13 for the same price as a new M9, which would you buy, now that you have your's? And why?

If you could get the mint M13 for the price of a new M9, I would do that. The only thing on the M9 is that you can only run 3 effects at once. 99.99% of the time for me thats ok, but there are times I would like to run EQ - Compressor - Dirt - Filter or Chorus, but I can live with just 3 at a time. Let us know what you decide to do.

Will do, John. First, I want my man to show up with the cash tomorrow. You know how CL is, but he seems legit.

I found a brand new M13 for $419, and that's tempting, but I've got some that are $385 or less in sight. :D

Probably should go to the online dealer with the best price or terms, and a free looky. I would tell them in advance that I wasn't sure which one I wanted, and that I wanted to try one, and that if I didn't like it, exchange it. That's the most practical thing, but who ever said musicians were practical?

I kinda like the idea of breaking the cost into three or four credit card payments, too. That way, while I'm deciding, I won't be out the whole amount. Something to consider. I like using other people's money for free. (or $3 to be exact)

Right now, I don't recall using more than three effects at once, but having the option to, gives you some headroom. I might even like the size of the M9 enough to offset that limitation, anyway.

It's all relative.:confused:

I went for the M13, and after just 30 minutes last night I am glad. I am sure I could have gotten by with the M9. However I know that I have the most options available, can do the effects loop if I want and If I want to run an EQ or comp I still have 3 slots available.

Mine was a blem model that looks brand new, without the plastic on the window. It already had the 2.01 code on it, so I don't have to worry about finding where my midi cable is. My wife (the wise one) put it this way. If you get the M9 are you going to wish you would have gotten the M13? I said yes possibly, so she said get the M13. On the plus side, I have a case I used in the past with a GT6 and then some singles afterwards that the M13 fits perfectly with room for a power strip and at least 2 volume pedals if I go that route.

Following up on Kosko's point, is the M13 bulky? That was one factor of this thread, orginally. I can get a M9 blem, but the M13 blems have seemed to disappear, for the time being.

(Still waiting for my bass buyer to call. Still have fingers crossed.)
