Warmoth Owners Club!!

Oh Yeah! That is stunning! Pickguard or no Pickguard? I am having a friend in Virginia make me a couple of wood control plates for me ( west Virginia wood arts). I'm not going to put pickguards on mine.
Cool - I would not cover that body with any pickguard, the grain is too nice.
I have WV Wood Arts make me a custom purple-heart PG for my SR5 some years back as the glossy black plastic it came with was just meh. He does nice work.

In progress pics. This build will be slow moving as I'm buying parts as I have the money.

Warmoth Jazz V Deluxe Black
Black Jazz pickguard
Bridge routed for Hipshot A String Through

I ordered the bridge from Best Bass Gear, still waiting on it to come in.

I'll be picking up pieces as I can get the money put away. If I sell a bass I have up in the market I'll be able to get it done quickly. Here is my plan for the rest of it:

Warmoth Maple/Maple 4+1 neck with black blocks
Hipshot 2 String Retainer for the B+E Strings
Hipshot 3 String Retainer for the A+D+G Strings
Nordstrand MM5.2 MusicMan pickup for the Bridge
Nordstrand NJ5FS Jazz pickup for the Neck
Audere Jazz Series Preamp
Just ordered the neck. Birdseye maple with black blocks. It’ll be hot!

I just bought a showroom neck -- roasted maple 34" Warhead neck (those Warheads are usually short scale necks) with a 24-fret wenge fretboard. I'd been thinking of ordering such a neck for a long time, but I was thinking about a jazz neck and a less expensive fretboard wood. I really like wenge, and it being a showroom neck meant it was cheaper than having one made, so it's an early Christmas present to myself. It will have gold frets and a black tusq nut, and will eventually go on a mahogany body with gold hardware and gold strings. I'm hoping it will look as stunning in real life as it does in my mind.

Hi All,
I finished my 32" fretless and it turned out better than expected. Got it back from final setup and nut install a few days ago. its nice and light at 7lbs, 10oz. The Ezi pickups with the Obsidian wiring harness make a great combination..Very clear and full. My first Warmoth fretless and I am glad I decided to build one. :D

Final Specs:
Warmoth short scale Jazz body, Roasted Swamp Ash, contoured heel (clear satin)
Warmoth 32" lined fretless Warhead neck (reshaped headstock) Padouk neck / Ziricote fretboard
Bone nut (unbleached)
Luminlay side dots
Custom neck plate from Doug over at the Warmoth forums
Ezi Bubinga pickups (passive)
Obsidian wire harness V,V,T
Custom Ziricote control/jack plate
Aluminum knobs
Hipshot vintage bridge
Schaller BM light mini clover tuners
SIT Foundations roundwounds 45-105

Hi All,
I finished my 32" fretless and it turned out better than expected.

That looks fantastic! How did you find the Schaller BM Lights with clover pegs? I couldn't find any new, so I ended up grabbing some Fender-branded Schallers with the clovers on the classifieds here. I'm actually starting to gather parts for a 32" fretless P-bass myself, which leads me to the questions I'd like to ask those who have some experience with Warmoth.

Here's what I have planned:
  • Super lightweight body, I plan on asking for a hand-selected blank that will then be chambered
  • Roasted maple neck, so I can leave it unfinished and polish it up
  • Probably an ebony fingerboard (unsure whether I want lines or not...)
  • Bartolini P pickup
  • Tortoise guard
Right now I'm leaning to alder for the body, with either an Oly white or sunburst finish. Anybody have experience with Warmoth bursts on alder? They have a few variations and I've heard they look different in person compared to the pictures on the site. Would ash be better for a burst?

Here are pics of my ss Bry burst, from the website pics to actual lighting. The burst ends up looking a little darker than expected in some lighting, but I’m pretty happy with it. Picture on stand is saturated on purpose.

Here's my first attempt. Swamp ash G4 body, roasted maple neck, pau ferro board. I finished the neck with a couple of coats of Tru-Oil for sweat protection. Nordstrand Bigman pup, and a customized Nordstrand pre with stacked volume/passive tone, p/p mids at 200/400, stacked bass/treble, a/p switch & series/single/parallel switch. Hipshot & Electrosocket hardware. I designed & cut the pick guard myself.View attachment 715413
Now that I've dug through the thread more, this looks like exactly my kind of burst. Is this honeyburst?
