I took the first pictures upon receipt of the bass. The last pictures are off the retailers website. Some show the flaw, in others it mysteriously isn’t there.

The email from the builder confirming the bass was shipped to BSW with the flaw-

From: Scott Surine <[email protected]>
Date: August 12, 2017 at 8:31:13 AM CDT
To: Mark <[email protected]>
Subject: Re: Quest.

Hi Mark,

This is a flaw in the finish. I think the best thing to do would be to send the bass to Pat Wilkins in LA who does our gloss finishes, or at least have a conversation with him as to the cost for repair. When I sold the bass to Lou, I offered the option for him to not purchase the bass, pointing out this flaw at the time of its completion.

Call Pat at 818-909-***0 and let me know what he says.

Scott

This email confirms that the bass was sold to Lou with the finish flaw, and that Lou was aware of it.

It say nothing about the bass being sold to Lou as a private person, and that warranty therefore did not transfer to you, as it was then a "used" sale.

Do you have other correspondence to back up that claim?

Just reviewed that listing, and the finish flaw was visible in all the photos.
According to Reverb, the bass was listed as Brand New and, by Reverb's definition of that, should have been covered by warranty. So why has this bass not been fixed by the manufacturer?

Either the seller listed it incorrectly, or the manufacturer is not holding up their end.

I see we are wondering about very similar things. :)

The builder would not honor the warranty because he said it was a used bass, sold to the dealer, not for resale supposedly.

Is the dealer still authorized to sell this brand? I see he is. I'm surprised that this is the case. A dealer misrepresenting my products and causing warranty headaches for me isn't something I'd put up with, especially if there are plenty of other dealers out there.

Personally, if I were the manufacturer, I would fix it just as a show of good will. I still don't know who is really at fault here but the manufacturer's actions are a little suspicious too, given that BSW is still listed as a dealer.

Good to know, I'll surely avoid them. Just makes me miss great stores, like Bass NW, that much more.

Yeah. I miss Evan and the guys at BNW.
You guys know that Chad Beeler, one of the co founders of Bass NW, has a shop in West Seattle now, right?
The Bass Shop | Selected Used and Vintage Bass Guitars

Not the same as Bass Northwest - it's a smaller shop with less new boutique basses - but it's a very good shop, and it's nice to deal with Chad again.

I live right next to Redondo Beach. The address given for Bass Southwest is an apartment complex. I had found Bass Southwest listed as a dealer for a brand I was interested in. I tried to go there and found an apartment complex. Google maps also shows pictures of the apartment complex.

I looked them up and found this odd result, also.

 I'm hesitant to go to sleep tonight for fear of missing more details as they unfold

What would really help lift this hazy smoke screen we're getting would be if the builder were to give us HIS timeline of events! I assume he would play no favorites either way.

@BSW... Can't you copy and paste the curse laden email/text tirade from the OP, and just change the naughty words to XXXXs???

All you've posted from him is a cordial email asking politely to rectify the situation, followed by you going off on him about repeatedly hassling you on your vacation.

WHERE IS THIS ALLEGED RUDE & CURSE LADEN COMMUNICATION FROM THE BUYER? I think that would only strengthen your case, don't you?? All you seem to be doing is obfuscating each question asked of you.

Perhaps it is a 'medical event', it's hard to tell.

I'm far from the most eloquently spoken person in ANY room, but dang... Judge Judy would be having a field day with this exchange :rollno:

Maybe I ought to just go to bed after all :wacky:
I was advised by TB I could not post profanity. I can PM or email you the fowl language
