Warrior Club Part 2

IMG_0091[1].JPG
I just got a Warrior Signature 5 on the used market and it came with D'Addario Chrome Flats on it and I'm really liking them. I can't believe how tight the B string is. Maybe it also has something to do with the strings.
I bought this because I decided I wanted to start playing 5 string and I don't think it will take me long to get use to it. sounds great as well! Ill get pics soon but its been passed around a bit here on TB

Question for Warrior owners that have had basses with the Sparkle unit JD uses for his preamps. Have any of you ever taken out the factory preamp and installed something else? What did you use and did it make a big enough tonal difference? I love my Warriors but JD still uses the custom Sparkle preamp in his new models and it wasn't an issue with my older bass cabinets but now I upgraded to the Genzler BA210 and the upper mids and Highs of these cabinets are really open. That with the Sparkle Preamp is giving me a little bit of an issue trying to dial the brightness out. So who has upgraded this preamp and what did you use?

The bass is totally remarkable. The tone is sick and the action and playability is absolutely ridiculous! I simply just place the set list down somewhere in the in the vicinicty of the bass, and it plays it for me!
Thanks JD, it gives me more time to mingle with the "Nice Ladies";)

I looked at getting that bass. I sent you a message about the Glock Pre. Can you let me know your feedback on it? I'm wanting to change the pre in one of my Warriors.

Haha...Cool! I really love both! Which models you have?

I don't remember the model of my Warrior but it's a neck through (the one one the right). And I have a Mayones Comodous. I put Nordstand Big Blades in the Warrior and Bartolini Singularities in the Mayones (both

single coils) and they sound incredible!! Real growly!

Punchy and cutting through the mix is always how I describe the sound of mine. Here are a couple of recordings I did several years ago. The signal is Warrior 4 with MM/J Barts (barely rolled back to bridge pickup, mid EQ barely boosted onboard) -> Phil Jones Bass Buddy -> Pro Tools. Very little (if anything) done to it after. (4 hours to record 9 songs, 4 hours to mix/master)

Newest addition to my stable is a 2016 Custom Warrior Messenger with Nordstrand pickup and Custom Bart Premap. This bass won 2015 Best Bass of the Year at Naam. This bass weighs at barely 7lbs. All three warriors I own range in the 7-8 pound range but are so powerful and full with tone wise. I don't see how JD does it.
