Just became a new warrior owner and love it. Bought it from friend and if sent it off to get some things fixed.

I am now having a 5 string built.

I've purchased 4 new Warriors since the end of last year and all have been fantastic. I was talking to JD when he first got that bass done and it was a Naam 17 piece. Should have the new Glock preamp which I have in 1 of mine. Can't speak for that pickup configuration but if it's anything like my DM 5'ers it will be amazing.

I will officially add this bass to my Warrior stable. It is a 2017 Naam Show piece and so far I'm really impressed. I didn't know how I would like the pickguard and flat black finish but is really impressive in person. Flawless build. Anxious to get it home and put it through the paces. This is Warriors take on the Music Man bass. Supposed to have alot tighter tone and even more punch according to reviews. This just might be a keeper.

Newest addition to my stable is a 2016 Custom Warrior Messenger with Nordstrand pickup and Custom Bart Premap. This bass won 2015 Best Bass of the Year at Naam. This bass weighs at barely 7lbs. All three warriors I own range in the 7-8 pound range but are so powerful and full with tone wise. I don't see how JD does it. that thing is incredibly hot! Lot's of beauties but that is near the top for me.

Question, when did Warrior start? And is there a 'small shop' period vs a 'factory' or something period? In other words, what is the early history with them?

They introduced them in 2016 and it actually won new bass of the year at Naam. JD says they don't do alot of this model but it is there take on the Music Man Stingray bass. It is a beefier, clearer tone according to JD and I can agree with that having owned and gigged Music Man basses for years. It is also their cheapest line of basses price wise.

Specifics? I have been up here since 02, had several pre-2000 models and a few 2000-2005 ones where I became turned off on them and then I think they have been doing well since, which is always good to see. Earliest I've had is a 96, I'm guessing 95 or so would be the earliest? Also guessing that around 2000 is when they made their switch from a small one man or family crew to trying to get a bigger crew, but I remember some people know the specifics.
