I do love the acrylic domed crystals on my vintage watches for some reason. I walk with my hands in my pockets in tight spaces, and cringe any time I whack them on something accidentally, but irrationally I still dig the character they have.

The good thing about acrylic is that, while is easy to scratch, it is also very easy to fix. Personally, I don't think scratches show up on domed crystals the way they do on flat ones. So that's another plus.

All I need is to hit the correct lotto numbers. I’ll be 60 on 12/1/22, that gives me a year to sort out what I want for that birthday. Assuming all things stay the same I guess.
is there any rule of thumb that it is better to go Quartz, Solar, Eco-Drive rather than automatic (or manual wind) on a Chronograph?
I have been online looking at the Tag Heuer Aquaracer, Oris Aquis and Tissot SeaStar 1000.
The Tissot is getting to me a bit. I’m really digging it.
The local AD that I bought the Tissot PR100 for my 50th carries all three brands so I will have a good look after Christmas and try them on.
The Tissot SeaStar 1000 chronograph doesn’t seem to be available in automatic. At least in Australia hence my opening question.
I used the $33.50 Casio swimmer* lol to time our set yesterday with the bezel. Actually worked very well for that purpose.

Depends on what you want from it honestly. Eco-Drive is just Citizen's version of solar, and solar is quartz - those will all be the most accurate, resistant to vibration and magnetization, and will require the least service, particularly for the solars. Modern solar batteries should have a lifespan of 20 years or so if kept charged.
Of course, there's always just something about a mechanical/auto that people love, despite the downsides.

Got this Moon Phase watch a while ago. Maybe because it reminded me of my dad's old Citizen. Something like the one below:
The moon phase was also on a clock that my granddad had.

I think it’s sad that many young people will never experience the joys and usefulness of using a mechanical watch.
