Way To Go Eden

I ran a 210xlt and 210xst w/ a wt800. One of my favorite rigs. The xst and xlt were a perfect match for each other. On the other hand I had a Metro combo that was complete garbage, tweeters constantly were burning up, two channels wouldn't match volume and no help from Eden CS at all. I had a WTX500, it was OK, didn't seem as loud as other micros with the same specs. I might try the DI pedal.

There are many good posts in this thread, by those with true experience, agreeing with the OP’s admiration.

Thanks. I'm the OP and I've never even use Eden gear. I use a blend of Carvin and SWR, currently.

I was just amazed at this particular moment, that Eden rig was sweet. I was not the only one who noticed it either, not by a long shot.

Good discussion though, thanks everyone :)

However, I question the OP’s need for comparison to someone else’s beloved gear, especially since that other gear has historic and current GREATNESS.

And now, I question the true intent of the thread. It doesn’t appear to be a pure admiration thread, as the original premise pits someone’s beloved gear against another’s beloved gear.

Hmmm. . . I can’t believe it has taken me this long to recognize this.

Interesting point. I'll confess, I've had a couple of bad experiences recently with Ampeg house systems. Maybe, on a sub-conscious level that's where I was going. You make a good point and I'll do my best to learn from it. I'm by no means a gear snob. Part of my fun is buying, using and flipping different gear.

the other recurrent point this brings to mind that all gear freaks should at least acknowledge, even if reluctantly: all the engineering, science, money, effort that can go into making your bass sound so nifty to YOU the player does not mean that the listener will get the benefit. many many factors are going to monkeywrench matters before the listener's eardrum is tweaked. and when the soundwave gets there, will the listener appreciate what YOU think he/she should appreciate?

I defend the OP's original main thought: he heard something coming through like a beacon. I thought that's what a musician wants, after all, that his hard work is at least getting a hearing

Eden’s sound great for finger-style players and funk players. Great note definition but with a warm tone. Really great for modern style basses.
Rock and punk, not so much though. People who gravitate towards Ampeg and GK go for a different sound altogether.
I like all good sounds and all types of players so I dig the Eden’s. One GREAT player I saw pumped his GK2001rb head through a pair of Eden 410 cabs. Tone NIRVANA!!
:bassist:

Wow! not for rock or punk. Mike Watt(wt800 I think) would dissagree.
I play a e300t in a Doom Rock outfit and it sounds effing monster. different strokes.
Besides I think alot of that has to do with what people see,not as many folks know about Eden, as they do Ampeg or Gk. People go with what they know

There were vendors, sponsors, etc. It was at an actual venue where other outdoor events are held.

Punkers need to eat and get paid too, just like everyone else. I see nothing wrong with it. Open that door between your ears and let the light shine in my friend.

um, you obviously arent "of the scene".
The "old school" punk aesthetic eschews commercialism of any sort. That's why to this day most punk shows are $5-7 and the t-shirts still are $10 or less. A punk band making a living at being a band? That would be the ultimate heresy!
Heck I have even been dissed for having a full Mesa bass rig and not some beat up old Peavey Mark IV (which arent that shabby with an 1820!).
These are a few of the reasons I don't really play punk rock anymore. Well, and since I quit drinking it lost a lot of its luster. :crying:

Blah, the punker-than-thou types can get stuffed. I'm old enough to have opened for Minor Threat--is anyone more old-school punk than Ian Mackaye? And let me tell ya, they had Les Pauls, a Fender P (obviously MIA), Marshall halfstacks and an SVT/810 stack. They also sounded incredible.

Sorry, maybe some day when I grow up I'll be as punk as you.

I'm 42 years old and was part of the local scene back in my younger days, in Orange County CA. Home of the Cuckoo's Nest and many Punk Bands that left a permanent mark on the punk scene. That's what the point of this festival was.

You're elitist attitude makes me laugh. If you still want to haul a generator out to the woods so you and your friends can play "punk" go right ahead. That was then, this is now.

If punk rockers were real with that "making no money" bullcrap, they wouldn't charge for shows and they'd give away t-shirts. Or better yet, they wouldn't make stupid t-shirts at all. It's all such phony baloney horse droppings. Of course they want to get paid. Nobody's fooling anyone here. Let's get real.

+1 to these^^

A bit before the punk scene, but Austin is full of old " commune-living...share it all, man 'hippies'" who are now managing investment portfolios, writing computer code, or managing those who do, and managing 401k or real-estate investments, some of whom are the biggest tightwads you'll ever meet.

Everybody needs money, man. The money in and of itself isn't a bad thing, it's just more convenient than carrying around 3 bushels of wheat to trade for your goat.

I like some punk rock. Sex Pistols, Ramones, Dead Boys...music made by angry working class kids who've had a few knocks in life...not these spoiled little trust fund babies you see now who think teenage hardship is getting their car taken away from them.

I like old punk rock as well and even the old rap before it got really commercialized. ( read run dmc, sugarhill gang, etc. ). I guess it had to be commercialized to some degree or midwestern farm kids would've never heard it, but you get the point. Newer stuff....not so much, in most types of mainstream, big selling music.

I'm quite happy with my Eden CXC-210 (has the WT-330 amp and 2 - 10's) stacked on top of a D-115T. I've been using this setup for 6 years and still love the tone. The agressively designed tone controls make it easy to adjust the tone with just small turns of the knobs.

“I heard some gear at a festival. It sounded great. It was even better than beloved titan brand 1.”

Hmmm. . . I can’t believe it has taken me this long to recognize this.

I currently use 2 x 15 cabs and a head from a lower-priced manufacturer, and I'm real happy with my tone.
That said, i recently played my upright thru an aguilar rig and now i have GAS :D ...but since i have a child in private school, the rig i CAN afford comes up trumps.

I tend to walk away when musicianship / gear ownership becomes a pissing contest....

You just have to look at my Endorsing Artist status to know where my sympathies lie here. I've had a WT-600 with two 210 XLTs or 210 XSTs as my go-to rig since 1996. The thing is built like a tank. I've had to change one tube in 16 years and for a good while it was my studio preamp until I replaced that with an Eden Navigator. Great sounding stuff and pretty much bulletproof-especially the earlier amps.
