Way To Go Eden

I've been playing through the same rig, EVERY WEEKEND since 1997. I've never had not one hiccup from my '97 WT800,running thru (2) '97 Eden XLT 4x10 cabs.
The only thing I've done to mine was that I turned the cooling fan around to blow the warm air out of the amp,as opposed to sucking cool air in.
I've really wanted to jump on the micro-bandwagon,along with a fEARful,or Bill Fitz cab. I dunno, this rig has been damn good to me for 15 years.

that cracks me up.
all this blather about "keeping it old school"

There were vendors, sponsors, etc. It was at an actual venue where other outdoor events are held.

right above, and next to the decidedly not very punk rock endorsements of Spaun, Popchips etc. I bet those "punks" actually went and got permits.

Punkers need to eat and get paid too, just like everyone else. I see nothing wrong with it. Open that door between your ears and let the light shine in my friend.

Just to corroborate what the OP was saying. I used to run a small regional sound company andI often got to do fill in duty for the lesser stages at some of these large multi stage events. I always brought my Community 3 ways and some JBL EONs for monitors. (those original Eons were awesome when they came out!). I'd always do a decent basic mix and leave some headroom so the PA wouldn't get muddy sounding. I would also ring out the foldback and make sure the kiddies could here at least vocals and snare.
In tune and on time right?
But when I would wander around and check out the competition, there would be simple 1202+amp+2 mains. Often with a security cover so you couldnt make any adjustment. Basically the 3rd tier bands had to make do with rehearsal hall gear, in an outdoor environment.
I've seen some of these events where the Red Bull booth has a better PA than the 2nd stage! :rollno:

Sad...but in this case, I believe it.

And yeah, my experience with Eden was all mid/late '90's and was all pretty good.

Well everyone's entitled to their opinions, but Eden is just not my thing. Too harsh, too cutting, too hard to dial out that springy boingy sound I get with it, and too hard to EQ to my liking. That said, if you guys like it, salut.

That's interesting. I don't know what you're doing but noon EQ looks like this:

One of the things I like about Eden amps is its flat response. And with 3 semi parametric EQs you can shape it how you want.

The 410 xlt I had sounded really bad when I played it at home by my self. Harsh, midrangey, But when I played it at a gig it would cut through the mix better than anything i ever owned.
Then it's the cabs. I don't like to cut through the mix...I want to punch the mix in the balls and beat my way through it ;)

That's why you're the luckiest, and maybe smartest dude on TB, Jimmy. You play the gear you love, have the tone you want and can live pretty much GAS free as far as amps and cabs go, Oh, and you're an Ampeg endorser to boot.

All the reasons you love that gear are the same reasons I don't. And that's the coolest thing about TB.

Me- I prefer Genz Benz, but Eden has that 'something' that I just can't let go of. I don't find it as articulate as GB, nor anywhere near as transparent. But the tone of the WT800 and the Navigator really do it for me sometimes.

Then again, I just love amps and heads and cabs. They have nothing to do with my technique- and I spend as much money on lessons as I do on gear. But I do love new gear...

Some of my most profitable years as a bass player were spent using an Eden rig live (WT800 + 4 ohm 410XLT) and I can attest to it's goodness. It was never my favorite tone but the DI was great, the bottom end was brutal, the EQ was extremely powerful and most importantly, it never failed me.

That's a pretty mighty rig you got and a fine stable of instruments too.

I have to say IMHO the Navigator is probably the single most fun preamp on the planet. It may not be the cleanest or get real dirty but man it does it all in between pretty well. I never get tired of going back to my Navigator. Makes me smile.

Well maybe it's the cabs I don't like then.

Likely. They sound to me as if their response curve on a chart would look a bit like a frowny face, ie: and enhanced amount of mids compared to the rest. I always used a bit of the enhance control when playing them. Didn't know what I was doing at the time, but it seemed to smooth them out. Make the amp counteract some of the speaker voicing.

Oh sure, we all do. But I'm lucky because I have any gear at all, just as we all are. Just remember that endorsing is not a ticket to free gear unless you're famous. Nice discounts, though ;)
