If you look at the OP's post history, and read most of the threads he's started, you quickly come to the conclusion that he's either 1) very young 2) someone pretending to be very young 3) a professional troll or 4) some combination of the above.

It seems very unlikely that someone who is 15 in this day and age is so unfamiliar with the internet and internet forums that they've never heard the term "troll". I think the ignorance the OP feigns is just part of his shtick, but that's just my opinion. Perhaps he really is sheltered and naive. Whatever the case, he comes across as a troll, whether he intends to or not.

The sad truth is that there are some TBers that are going to continue to treat him as a troll unless his posting behavior changes...and if he really is a 15 year old kid who's just looking for information, that's a big loss for him.

Quit posting. Read. Read posts for weeks. Read the sticky threads. Search for information, instead of posting new threads.

To be perfectly honest, no one cares what a 15 year old thinks. I know. I was 15 when I joined here.

You are here to learn, not tell people, and not to expose your silly adolescent goals and dreams. This is not your personal journal.

Please just read the forum until you actually understand how these things go.

I'm only a teen and have very limited tastes in music. I only listen to rock(Simon& Garfunkel or Beatles) to death metal, but I've heard a lot of different kinds of music before.

:p I'm 16 and I've been playing for just over a year. I practiced about 7 hours a day and I've also invested a lot of money into bass. Maybe it's down to 'ignorance is bliss' but it's nice to know I have the right mentality. I'd probably credit the fact that I've had to grow a thick skin in my life, but, after 3 failed instruments, it's nice to finally find something that I'm improving at. Thanks a lot, that comment has made my day :)

(p.s. @whoever made that beautiful lecture about trolls, I admire you and your amazing defining skills.)

RE-EDIT: (after re-reading some posts) @Eric, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT (!) use age as an excuse for limited musical tastes. It only serves to re-enforce the 'ignorant, uncultured children' stereotype that hounds teens and I do my very best to avoid. Thank you.

Agree with #1.

#2 should read: "No one cares until we screw up" :)

There are plenty of bass heroes and tons of players that are appreciated. But playing bass, or any instrument for that matter, to be "appreciated" is a bit misguided IMO.

Mate, seriously, you've made a mistake here. I and, I'm sure, everybody here, is prepared to let this slide so please just accept that you're wrong. Everybody makes mistakes and I'm sure I've been a bit of a troll at times on this site, since my joining, but I'm trying to take on board what happens; listening and learning etc. (I hope this doesn't sound smarmy, I'm just trying to give you a friendly pointer) There's nothing wrong with asking questions, this site is a fantastic resource for young bassists like ourselves, but try not to post threads that are just there for the sake of getting replies.

Nobody's having a go here so just treat this as a learning experience and back out. Thanks. :)

Not what I meant either. If the mods are shutting down your threads and deleting your posts (which I haven't verified so dont even know if its true, but if it is) then obviously you are going against the rules and trolling. You may not have read the appropriate Sticky thread ("Forum Rules - Please Read") and sorry to inform you, these forums are not a democracy, they are run by the mods. The mods are good natured and fair and only have the wellbeing of this forum in mind. I only continue to respond to you to try to educate you, theres a wealth of information and resources here and I'd hate to see you get banned or discouraged just because of your youthful ignorance/arrogance and complete lack of comprehension of sarcasm.
