Just today I noticed that ads are now popping up in the middle of threads (between posts). Is anyone else seeing this? There have long been ads at the tops and bottoms of TB threads but the in-the-middle ads are new to me. And no, I don’t want to expand my business to Nigeria. Annoying and invasive in a way that the other ad locations aren’t.

Yeah it seems like the ads have gotten literally almost the size of my entire iPhone screen. I’ve been having to scroll past several patches of blank space on every page I’m checking out (including this one, lol.)
Is this a bug? Photo for reference:

TB is a private business for profit, and ads are a part of its revenues. Gold Membership (not just Supporting) exempts you from seeing ads on the site. The owner, @paul, posted today that he is trying a new ad service and will be making tweaks as he sees how it works.

On the whole ad blocker thing, I don't think I'm aware of any other commercial enterprise that platforms discussion about how to negate that enterprise's own revenue streams.

Thanks for posting this.

I think it would be fair to pass on that the mid-page ads aren’t being well accepted and have garnered some attention. I’ve never minded the banner ads at the top and bottom, because they don’t really interfere with me getting to content the way the ones in the middle of the page are doing now. And since the banner ads are still at the tops and bottoms of each page, there is definitely a lot more real estate on my phone being taken up by ads, at the expense of seeing content. (I am a supporting member but not at the gold level.)

I enjoy the site because there’s a lot of experience and perspectives, and even disagreements aren’t allowed to get too explosive. We have moderators to thank for that and I want to express my appreciation for your efforts.
