While maybe true to an extent, I wouldn't necessarily try to change too much. Sometimes a band needs someone to care too much. I bet you would be a much better BL than this guy you are dealing with.

It’s not really my mindset to not care about what I’m doing or involved in, otherwise why do it or get involved.
But I think his point was to not take my caring beyond where it needs to be. And I get that!
I should start my own band, again, and move forward with it. But I still play every Sunday.

Sometimes (often, in fact) the reality ends up not being as bad as what we anticipate.

I hate being inconvenienced as much as anybody but I think you displayed a lot of class by giving this guy the benefit of the doubt. Care too much? I’m not sure that’s possible. It’s definitely possible to get too invested in something or to get too close to it to see it clearly for what it is but, as you said, you can’t care too much. The whole point of doing it is to care.

We did two 45-minute sets. A customer paid for our drinks and dinner. Have $200 in my pocket. The owner wants to book us monthly throughout the year.
What started out weird ended on a good note!
I’m still on the fence about the BL and if I want to take this gig with him.
