Just super awfull time mannagment and production. If I were you I would quit the gig and work for someone else. If they can even tell you the songs your playing ( thats kinda the most importiant thing as a bassist ) He dose not need your sirvice

Man, his greetings really sounds like he is in a bad place, mentally.

Has that always been his voicemail greeting? ...because I find that strange.

I’ve never seen him doing anything other than take a drink or two. I’d have to remove myself from the band if having a drink at a gig was an issue!
He does forget song lyrics at times, but perfection is a tough row to hoe.
Seems this go-around has been the odd one and clearly not totally impacted by yesterday’s event in Texas.
Communication has just been terrible!
Nice guy, but I still might have to pass on any future gigs with him. Too much effort on my part to get him to give me what I need to support him in his band!
He makes playing in church a walk in the park.

Honestly, I’ve not called him before and got this greeting. He usually picks up, he calls me or we just text each other.
The tone of his voice in the greeting sounds very odd. Not pleasant at all and seems to reflect stress.

I’ve sent two messages to him. One last night at 8:00 and one at 12:00 today. I’ve called and left him a voice mail. He has not responded to either.
I don’t know what to think at this point. Weird!

I agreed to do the gig although I have weekly church band rehearsals on Thursdays. I asked about the set list and planned rehearsal dates and place. “I’ll get back at you about rehearsing and I’ll send out the set list in the morning.”.
A week later I texted the BL about the set list that I was to receive. “Oh, I blew out my knee and was out of it!”.
Fast Forward: One week before the gig.
I get a text from the BL that the planned rehearsal ran into issues with the location. So, seeking another location in progress.
I volunteered to have the lone rehearsal at my house because the BL couldn’t find another location.
As of yesterday, I’ve not been given the name of the venue and it’s exact location.
Last night I sent a text to the BL asking for the exact location and the setup time frame.
No response as of today at the time of this post! The gig is tomorrow.

Do you know who the other band members are? Do you know them well enough to text them and ask what's going on?

The gig is tomorrow - too late to back out.

Maybe the knee issue is being attended with meds and the meds have the upper hand and he's looking for a way out of the gig.

Or realized he sluff off on contacting you and got a replacement at the last minute.

He wouldn't have to at the last minute, if the BL would answer his phone. I guess you missed the part where he had been trying to contact him.
