What !!! a left handed combo amp?..

Paul Reed Smith doesn't like to make left-handed guitars because, in his words, "They don't make left-handed pianos."

And he has a point. You can fret just as well with either hand if you learn that way. Baseball players field grounders with their non-dominant hand simply because they need the strength of their dominant hand and arm to throw the ball. But fielding it is the hard part.

Back when I was teaching guitar I'd try to convince the parents of left-handed beginners that the student would have an advantage if they had a right-hand guitar because (at least at the beginning stages) the fretting hand needed more strength and coordination. I was usually met with accusations of trying to "force" their kid into "conforming".

So I'm scrolling through cl because I'm bored and nothing better to do when I come across this listing for a "left handed bass amp"...this can't be real..I mean left handed basses, sure and not common really but yeah I've seen plenty but a left handed amp?...

What or why would this ever be a thing?

Normal wear and tear. Works fine. Sounds great. 100 watts (150 with extension). Great practice/small gig amp. Light/portable. $750 new.

Also works for rightys. You just have to turn it upside down and reverse the direction of the instrument cable.

A friend, guitar player left handed, is always trying and buying. I was surprised to find out guitars are left handed but sometimes the pots are still right handed. Rotating the wrong way.

My 90s Yamaha has lefty pots with right handed knobs. They go from 10 all the way up to 0. It’s part of the charm of some lefty instruments to me.

I would have thought they might be a tad above the average ones as you would think they would slow down and think about it. NOPE! Not the case. If anything, the lefties suffer more cosmetic issues because they don't do as many.

There were a variety of different things screwed up, that have showed up over the years. Just the fact that he can rarely try a new model would drive me nuts, but I'd like to think if I paid extra and waited for it to be built SOMEONE would have checked it over before sending it out to the customer.

I agree that it shouldn’t be an issue past a certain price point, and it’s the sort of thing that really used to bug me. These days I’m more like your friend. At least today I have access to a selection of lefty instruments I couldn’t have imagined when I started on a flipped right handed bass.

Maybe I’m just so conditioned to accept a poor selection of lefty instruments that I’m more grateful for less. I like to think it’s because I choose not to obsess over things I can’t control.

Wait a minute.... what? I'm going to need that explained to me. Nothing changes about the direction of the pot rotation, regardless of which way the neck is pointing. Or are you referring to tuner keys?
